Icmeler Online Holiday Forum & Reviews - Turkey

Hey so I am heading over on the 20th July with my best friend - we're only 19 so were looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful to stop at night We booked up in the Private Hotel for the two weeks but I can't find much on it on the maps so i get a bit worried - i know it exists but where is it in relation to everything (or anything)?

also -- my best friend has a major nut allergy! Is this easy to communicate to restaurants??? this is only my second time in Icmeler and my first time being the responsible adult so i just want to make sure we can go places that will accommodate her allergies

I'm sure being 19 year olds you will have plenty of places to go and things to do. Most of the larger bars have an entertainment programme nightly. There are three nightclubs for you to choose from.

With regards to your friends nut allergy. You really do have to be careful. My son has a peanut allergy and if he eats anything containing nuts then it can be life threatening. I would certainly say keep off any sort of Korma, as this contains nuts (almonds etc). My son had a very bad reaction after eating cornflake cakes that were actually made with Crunchy Nut Cornflakes, thus resulting in him having to go immediately to hospital. So please just be careful when ordering meals. I'm sure your friend will have been used to being careful whenever she goes out to eat in this country, so I'm sure she will be ok.

The Hotel Private is very central - just beside the canal, so you won't be far from all the action. As regards the nut allergy, perhaps someone on here who speaks Turkish would be able to tell you how to say that in Turkish - maybe you could make up a card or something which has it written down and you could then show that to the staff in hotels or restaurants so they know exactly what your friend can have.

Amazing! we have been looking for it for ages! and havent had much luck!

I'm thinking that would be a great idea! If anyone could tell me how to express no nuts in Turkish that would be perfect!! better safe than sorry!!

I found the following on the Internet which may help, as suggested earlier I would have it printed on a card.


The Turkish phrase for "I'm allergic to nuts" would be Çekirdeklere alerjim var (CHEK-ehr-DEK-lehr-EH ah-lehr-ZHEEM vahr), but the word used here is "seeds" rather than "nuts."

Unfortunately, Turkish doesn't have a single-word designating tree nuts, as English does. If your allergy is to a particular sort of nut, you'd say:

[Name of nut] alerjim var.

For example, Yer fıstığı alerjim var (YEHR fuhs-tuh-uh ah-lehr-ZHEEM vahr) for peanuts: "I'm allergic to peanuts."

If you want to avoid all nuts, seeds and their oils, say:

Çekirdeklere, fıstık - fındık ve yağlarına alerjilerim var.

(CHEK-eer-DEK-leh-reh, fuhs-tuhk fuhn-duhk veh YAH-lahr-uh-NAH ah-lehr-zhee-leh-REEM vahr)

I can eat no nuts or seeds, or their oils:

Hiç çekirdek, fıstık fındık veya yağlarını yiyemem!

(HEECH chek-eer-DEK fuhss-TUHK fuhn-DUHK veh-yah YAH-lahr-uh-nuh yee-YEH-mehm)

I would definetely have it written down as our pronounciation is not like theirs! If you have a Turkish pizza place/ takeaway near you they will be happy to write it down for you if you explain, I once got a text in Turkish and I took it to my local pizza place for the guy there to translate (he is by the way from marmaris)
May be quite funny to mime and explain "NUTS" without knowing the word lol!

I am sure if you go into the chemist in the square the man will write it for you in Turkish,he is very hepfull better to be safe and not spoil your holiday,we stop at the private every year ,in fact my friend goes next Monday have a great holiday but you must be carefull of those nuts.

most of the restaurants will be able to understand as the majority of the turkish people in icmeler speak very good english
just make sure they fully understand before ordering
also private hotel in the middle of the town and right in the centre for everything the shops, resturants and bars
have an amazing time girls
