Turkish Bread!

15 May 2011 16:43

Went to Olu Deniz 2 years ago, and some of the restaurants did a "Turkish Bread" that you got at the beginning of your meal. Not sure what it was called, but it was like a large, blown up Pitta bread!

Does anyone know if any of the Restaurants in Icmeler do this?

Thanks in anticipation! LMM

You will find that quite a lot of the restaurants in Icmeler give you this at beginning of meal wether you ask for it or not. Usually comes with garlic butter and a couple of dips - Enjoy

As others have said, you get it almost everywhere, although it varies from place to place - some are absolutely massive! You usually get it with garlic butter, a spicy tomato dip and a yogurt/mint one, all delicious - although again, sometimes there are variations depending where you go. Think it may be called lavash bread, but most places just tend to call it pitta or even nan bread!

yep it is known as lavas
but a lot of places in icmeler have stopped serving it as it needs to be made in a stone based oven like pizza's do which is hard to maintain and very costly to purchase
