hello all
we are going out to icmeler on the 15/7/11,,and i can not remember what you can + cannot buy in the tansas,or any supermarket, ,i always take out my nescafe + pg tips,but as this is our first time in a apartment,,we were wondering if you can buy things like bertolli or lurpak,,heinz beans,,packets of bacon,,robinsons juices,to dilute,,ect,,as we only have 15kg each we need to know if you can get any of the above items [ or similar turkish brands ]. .all help will be greatfully recieved

As was mentioned in another thread you can't buy proper bacon in Icmeler. Loads of juice drinks, squash as I call it, don't know about lurpack but we bought marg last year and it was fine, I did buy some cheese spread that wascalled fillydel something like that, I assumed it was like Phillidelphia ....god it was awful. By the way the bread is fantastic.

Hi salted butter expensive but available not seen heinz beans or bacon in tansas certainly not in icmeler and you will pay a premium if you do find it , robinsons not available either sorry but you may need to buy xtra weight , enjoy your holiday xx

You can get most things at Tansas but not so the brands you say but have there own versions bacon not same as ours but hey you are in Turkey and don't have English bacon & butter not same but you get used to it some people take there own bacon & butter in there luggage, we only take tea & coffee you will get by its nice to try some of there food & drink items.They do laughing cow cheese & bread delicious.

this will be our 3rd visit to icmeler,, i know the bread is lovely.. i am a diabetic,and i can only drink the no added sugar diluted juices, [ i should have put that in the 1st post ]..last year we stopped in the private hotel,i brought 3 litre bottles of robinsons over with me,,i was just wondering if there was ANYWHERE i could get it either in a local supermarket or at the big 1 in marmaris,,as i could use the weight allowance to bring other things..

99.9 percent certain you wont get robinsons either in icmeler or marmaris xx

i am also diabetic and have never seen diluting juice in either Icmelr or Marmaris Tansas. I make do with either water or diet cola,diet fanta or you can also get a diet lemonade/ I have also been known to have the odd Efes!!!!!!

Icmeler Tansas is fairly small but you will get a huge range of foods at the one in Marmaris or the Migros in Marmaris. You can get brand names but as they are imported are fairly expensive.

The only thing I find a little disappointing is the choice of breakfast cereals, which a bit limited. Plenty of cornflakes which I dont mind but Mrs smc 4761, likes cereals that they dont sell

I`m sure I saw diluting juice (cordial) at the new-ish supermarket opposite the Love Boat / Diva, they also did a different selection of cereals.

I saw Robinson's diluting juice whilst in Marmaris a couple of years ago,it was in one of the smaller shops in Armutalan. Not sure where you would get it in Icmeler.

You can have a look at some of the items in Tansas by going on their website http://www.tansas.com.tr
and then clicking on Current Insert. I don't know how often it's updated though.

We usually take squash with us but last year we saw it in a supermarket for the first time, I think it was in Arslan supermarket opposite the Loveboat. We buy lovely cheese in Tansas and it has dost written on it which I think means sliced. Hope this helps

In the Tansas you can buy little packets of flavoured powder, Orange, Lemon, Clementine, Mixed Fruit, Nectarine, Peach etc. that you add to 1 Litre of water to dilute. These sachets are ideal to add to the litre bottles of water for a refreshing change. I personally add them to the litre bottles (which i have filled from a 5 litre bottle) and then freeze them. If you take them to the beach and keep them in a beach bag, i don't know why but they stay cold all day and i mean 11.00 - 16.00.

The packets are less than 1 ytl and taste really good

there is that new supermarket the other side of Marmaris can't think of the name at the moment but its supposed to be an of shoot of Tesco,its only 5 minutes the other side of the Statue,might be worth a look to see what they sell.

tesco evet kipa. its a good walk from the ataturk statue, taxi recommended, i prefer migros,

I am sure i have seen Robinsons but cant for the life of me think where, Just a note of caution i dont think the sachets would be suitable for someone with diabetes

I think Jozzy is right about the sachets - if it's the Tang ones, I'm sure they're absolutely packed with sugar! I was going to buy some until I read the labels!!!

I know about the sachets that can be added to water that you can buy, but last year for the first time we saw bottles of squash, I'm pretty sure it was in Arslan supermarket. So this year squash has been knocked off the list as we know we can buy it in Icmeler now. At least I hope they will still stock it this year as a couple of bottles of Robinsons are quite heavy to carry in your luggage.

I'm also diabetic and took a small bottle of asda triple strength diluting juice. I would take 1 in each suitcase and make use of the 5 kilo hand luggage, sandals, clothing etc. Think you should be ok for weight. I also bought robinsons in the supermarket across from Prestij aparts in old village, afew minutes walk from Tansas. If I remember right it was quite expensive-around 6 lira. Hope this helps
