Toast

Postby jonty1948 » 28 Apr 2011 15:41

Hi, friends,
Missed Icmeler last year, first time since 2005, but we are going in September for three weeks, yippee! Trying self-catering in an apartment for the first time, which has just two cooking rings. Problem is, I'm a bit of a toast junkie in the morning. Does anyone know the answer, maybe buy a toaster, if so where? The chef at the Efes Inn beach bar used to make the best toast in town, on the griddle, which might work with a frying pan (and a lot of smoke!). And I'm sure I saw something on the forum, ages ago, about how to improvise using a wire coat hanger, but I can't recall the detail. Any advice appreciated, best suggestion gets an invite around for breakfast,
Thanks,
John

you could jump on the dolmus and go to the end of the line which is the big tansas in marmaris and pick up a cheap toaster there

We bought a toaster from Tansas in Marmaris a couple of years ago which we leave at the apartment we stay in, as we go twice a year. We took toaster bags but found the sliced bread you bought was too thick to use once you have put your filling in.

just try and flatten the bread a bit before you put the filling in,that's what we do and it toasts fine.

I reckon they don't put toasters in a lot of apartments so you just eat in the restaurant.

most of the self catering apartments have toasters in them
but most of the supermarkets will sell them for example tansas in marmaris

Thanks everyone. Since we have a decent baggage allowance this year (Jet2, 22kgs) I'm off down to Tesco at lunch time to see if their smallest, lightest, toaster might be a fit for the suitcase,
See you in September,
John
