Hi All,

I am a newbie to all of this and have been loving JTs daily updates on the weather as I shall be arriving in 9 days (it cant come soon enough) :)

It is my first time in Turkey and from reading all the posts on here im sure I wont be dissapointed..

Anyway we are actually staying in Marmaris but my Brother and his GF are going to Icmeler at the same time as us and we are hoping to go and visit them on a few occasions so was wondering what is the best way for us to get there??? they was there last year and said the boat taxis are prob the best way.... does anybody know how much these are and how long it takes and if they are better than getting the dolmus?

Thanks and i may be seeing some of you soon as the set meals in the tandori sizzler sound fab :D

Sam

The water taxi was 7 lira each last year one way and well worth it. Not sure how long it took. The scenery is fab. You can also walk the beach path. Depending on where you srart and finish it takes over an hour to walk but again well worth it best done early in the morning or early evening. Hope this helps

We did the walk to Marmaris last June and got the water taxi back - as others have said, it is a nice walk, but best done early or later in the day to avoid the worst of the heat. The water taxi is a nice way to come back, as you get the refreshing breeze. You could always get a dolmus one way and the water taxi the other too.

also if anyone can help I am also going to be looking for a nice peice of jewellry why am there does anyone know if icmeler is better than marmaris for jewellers??

Thanks,Sam

There is a water taxi stop just at the bottom of the canal in Icmeler, and from memory I think there are two or three in Marmaris.
As for jewellers, Icmeler has loads! I'm not a shopper myself, but if you scroll down and check some of the other threads, people all have their own recommendations as to which ones provide the best service.

Hi Sam

If you look in the photo section check the heading 'Transport' by Barnie. This may help you as well.

Hope you have a lovely holiday.

Depending where you are in Marmaris but I would say 30 Lira before midnight, a lot more after, last Dolmus is about 1am and is about 2 Lira each.

You can wave the dolmus down anywhere on the main street.
The Dolmus to Marmaris and back is Orange and white and at present is 2.5 lira each way.
Make sure you stand on the correct side of the road.
The Dolmus is very frequent and the last one from Marmaris is 1am but if a lot are waiting extra Dolmus will be sent to pick up.
I often use the last service and never been left behind.
Check out the above link.
