JEWELLERS

Postby melbrooks » 25 Apr 2011 18:41

The best by far we have found in Icmeler is Star Goldsmiths and Jewellers located just past the Jimmys Okimo Resataurant and next door to the laundry facing the canal.

Linda and Dincer are fabulous to deal with and as Dincer is also a Goldsmith he will actually make or copy anything you want all done on the premies in his workshop, you can actually watch him make your order or do your repair, they also do of course sell a range of quality Jewellry of all descriptons.

We have used Star for many many years and the welcome he gives to all his customers new and old is brilliant.

Whenever I buy a chain I can never decide what length to have so I have a shorter chain with another chain about two inches long with a link on either end so that I can add it as an extension. This way I get two different lengths from the same chain :)

The price of gold has tripled in the last few years. Today's price ($1500 an ounce) is expected to double by 2013, and is then expected to double again by 2020. At this rate I would think that in the future it's going to be really difficult for many of the jewellers to survive as there are so many competing against one another and as the price is getting so high many of us will be buying less. :( It's also affected the price of silver as many people are now buying silver instead of gold.

Dragon , you are just right in this point. The price today is 1533$ an ounce. The Reason is that gold is a safe investments for countries , the worldmarkets are not stabil and they will be not for a long while i guess.Im sure it will efect us.But as you said from the otherside ; it is the best invesment for the next 2-4-6 jears , So anyone who buys gold for the right price will make profit in Time.
And silver went up aswell , also by ounce.İ hope everything will be good at the end.

Have a nice day.

Gold is definitely a good investment, its price will never come down. I always tell my OH it's better to buy this year as it will be more expensive next year!

gold is a good investment so long as you can afford it now and if you can afford to keep hold of it for the next few years. also if you can trust that what your buying is gold as my wife found out couple of years ago.
we had always bought our gold from trust (near diva hotel) and ever had a problem. but a couple of years a go spotted a braclet in a jewellers not far from trust and when we got it valued at home found it was not gold but fake.

Sorry to hear that you were conned Ivano, it's a shame that we can't name the jeweller concerned.

We have bought from many jewellers over the years and the best that we have found is Firuze. We always have our jewellery valued when we get home as the valuations given in Icmeler aren't accepted by any insurance companies at home and you need a certificate issued in the UK. We have always been delighted with our valuations from jewellery bought from Firuze. We bought a number of items from a different jeweller a few years ago and all the items but one were fine. A ring that my husband bought was valued when we got home at the price that we paid for it. This would have been fine except that we were told that it was worth three times as much and we were given the valuation card for the exaggerated amount. Obviously this is why insurance companies at home insist on a certificate issued in the UK before they will give any cover.

I have used Yasmin jewellers up from Coco Beach and Simons Diamonds next to Kapmar Hotel, bought diamond rings in both of them and when I had them valued they were triple what I paid for them. I was well pleased!! Really nice guys too
