Probably in the wrong forum, but thought a few people may be interested, with it being in Turkey although not Icmeler.

I saw this in my local newspaper! Quite shocking and I'm quite disgusted. I hope nobody on this forum has went through anything in similar especially not In Turkey!

P.S Feel free to move/remove/lock if you feel the need to admin.

Please do not worry about Icmeler repeating the Gumbet horror story. I am sure JT will agree when I say a lot of work has been undertaken here over the winter. Apart from the private work being done by restaurant owners the council have done 3 major pieces of work. Putting down new paving blocks on a large number of roads. Icmeler is certainly better for it and folk with mobility issues will greatly appreciate it. Secondly, the large drainage project which we have photographed...as we walked past last night the road was being re-laid and should be complete in a few days. The third, and most contentious, piece of work was the demolishing of the canal stalls. Marti la Perla have just finished building a huge (but attractive) wall along their boundary. Now that is complete I am hoping that work can start on tidying up the canal, and having seen how quickly they work here it could all be finished in a few days. So please do not worry...it will be alright on the night! Will take some more pics today if I can. And...the beach was being re-laid yesterday if that is the right term for it?

I just remember this time last year when a lot of people were worried about all the alterations taking place, and guess what? It all seemed to work out at the end of the day, and I'm sure it will be the same this time round too.

These photos are identical to my holiday ones taken last May in Gumbet
We go to Icmeler in October and we only booked to go to Gumbet to meet up with friends who had bought an apartment in Akbuk.
Fortunately the hotel we stayed at was great but a few weeks before we went I saw the photos of the state of the place on another forum and emailed them to my travel agent.
I visited them 3 times before I went expaining my concern and was told everything was fine!
I asked if I could change my resort or date but they still insisted that the resort was fine.
I actually have a photo of my husband helping the workman cut a plank of wood in one of these streets:?:
What made it worse for me was that at the time I had walking problems due to a trapped sciatic nerve.
With hindsight I should have took streel toed boots
I have complained to the tour operator (one of the big two!) since last May and they just dont care and say its not their fault they sent us to a place that resembled Beruit.
If I was that couple from Blyth I would seek the help of a Travel Solicitor.
