Thats awful news, I hope the bank manage to get things sorted out.

Puts you off buying things with your card though doesn't it.

Cards are guaranteed safe by banks but still you must ensure that they are not taken from you and transactions are done out of sight and this goes for any country including UK.

My wife and I have been to Icmeler 24 times, and have always used Cartier and paying by card with never the slightest problem.I just feel you have been very unlucky as in all countries you will get the odd exception to the rule.raymo186

We use a credit card for most of our meals and for any jewellery etc that we buy. We ring the company the day before we fly out and ring again after we've returned and so they know that any other transactions from Turkey outside of these dates would be unauthorised. We would do this wherever we were flying to as it only takes a quick phone call.

I hope it doesn't put your wife off going to Icmeler as it can happen anywhere. I remember reading of it happening in a Tesco's a little while back where a mysterious second transaction had gone through. It was only noticed because it was a card that wasn't normally used and had only been used the once and that had been in Tesco's. The person that did it was sacked and was charged. So it can happen on your doorstep. I agree with John though that you shouldn't let your card out of your sight wherever you are.
