do you prefer being in the centre or Old Village?

I've stayed in both but much prefer old village - didn't know much about it until I went to Greenworld to visit my son who couldn't get into our hotel - he had the better deal! When I booked this year I was a little worried about being so far from "the action" having stayed in the centre previously. especially the walk back. In fact it was something I looked forward to - lovely cool breeze, at that time of night there's still a few places open to break up the short walk. I love the late night chat cause staff were winding down too. Of course, the walk was always littered with ideas of buying one of the apartments on the way and planning to run a business and live in the sun - oh I wish! Isn't it sheer bliss getting back to the apartment and relaxing by the pool in the cool air with a vodka in your hand? We didn't need the air con as much probably because the windows were open all night - must admit there wasn't much night left after the leisurely stroll back, chit chat, a few drinks a snack and coffee on the balcony. Ah but another thought - walking around the centre, grabbing a kebab and heading for Eastenders with my 30year old daughter - and not feeling like the oldest swinger in town!
I think that's what's called "the best of both worlds" What about you?

The village for the cool air and the peace and quiet.

No bin wagon or stret sweeper for hours on end in the mornings.

Problem with the village for me sometimes is that if my kids are there 14, 16 and 19 who know Icmeler and everyone in it like it was theirs they decide to take off by themselves to town usually seperately and by the time we make our way down they could be coming back for us on a different route so we are like ships in the night and sometimes is a long time until we are all rounded up together to eat.

Centre for closeness to the office and watersports on the beach where my kids spend most of the day.

You dont look old enough to have kids 14, 16 and 19 John!! :)

We've always gone centre but the "Cool Breeze" bit is selling to me, and the exercise of walking off a few calories on the way home - might have to try that one time ......

I have always been a town centre person, we find it hard work carrying a barrel of Efes back up to the old town late at night.

But I love the countryside, and am always walking around the village early every morning.
I like to hear the goats, hens and the occasional whinny of the horses tied up in the fields round the village, everything is so peacefull.
I think one year we may give the old town a try because there are plenty of bars up there and the centre is not that far if we hire 3 bikes.

Trouble is I love the dance bars and when your in the centre you can try 3 or 4 a night and bed is just a stagger away.

Will have to give it more thought.

The Old Village is great ,something you dont have in a lot of holiday resorts .The Dolmus and Taxis make getting to and from the centre easy , if you dont fancy the walk.

Have stayed in both and have to say I prefer the buzz of staying in the centre. Everything is on your doorstep. Sitting on the balcony, watching the sunrise with a hot cup of coffee watching everyone set up there shops and bars/restaurants for the day. Being out at night in various places till 3 or 4 in the morning and knowing your only staggering distance from bed. lol! I agree with Gene tho, im sure there are some hidden gems waiting to be discovered in the old village and will hopefully get to find them in future visits.

I think i would like to try the old village next year. we stayed in the ercahan hotel last year and although the hotel & staff were lovely ,the one thing that put us off was being woken up at 6am every morning without fail by the roadsweeper! also every night about 6pm a lady over the road took her dog out for a walk and it set all the other dogs of barking, it was like clockwork every morning and every night without fail.

Hi Lynn,
The hotel was lovely and the staff were nice also. i enjoyed being by the pool as we always got a sunbed and they played nice relaxing music. it is also very near to the centre which is handy when you've had a few
all in all, apart from the noise, i would go back again because it was the first hotel we ever stayed in in turkey 10 years ago and it wasn't noisy then. it's a shame really that the rodsweeper couldn't come about 8am, it was sometimes as early as 5am!!
