Exclusive Excursions

Postby JT » 12 Mar 2011 01:18

This summer I will be running a Gypsy excursion once a week( probably Sunday )

If there is call for it then it will be run twice a week but then that is of course depending on how many are interested

This will not be a walk into the office and book trip but will have to be done either via email at [email protected] or you can put your names on the list when visiting Hakan at the Tandoori Sizzler while enjoying your Efes.

You will of course have me as a guide for the day and I will ensure that you see more of the "real" Turkey.

10 full paying guests minimum but there will be no maximum.

Make sure you all bring camera's and swimwear is optional

Thanks

50 lira per person including breakfast at an authentic Turkish place on top of the mountain on a winding road in the middle of nowhere.

From there I will take you all on a journey through the forest to a place where the bus can't get to where we will turn into mountain goats ( it's not that bad ) and anyone who is not that steady on their feet ( Colettes mum after a few sherries ) will be carried to the top of the mountain to see the views across to Selimiye, Bozburun, Symi Island in Greece on a clear day and also across the Bodrum peninsular.

From there back into the bus where we will meander down the other side of the mountains and through Turkish working villages where if you wish we can stop and you can buy honey, jam, herbal remedies from the roadside houses where they are all made through traditional ways as they have for centuries.

You will be taken through countryside that you would not see normally and eventually end up on gypsy beach where you can sit back and relax in the sun, have a swim in the pool or in the sea.

The bar/restaurant will serve you cold or hot drinks with the best local food, fish straight from the sea, freshly prepared salads, and meats.

There is a ruined castle up above the beach and a few trails where you can ramble and get fantastic shots of the scenery

Nothing better in life but to sit back and relax in the sun/shade with friends with a bottle of Raki and a fish and salad.

This is a great day out for everyone and is worth seeing.

Pick up at 09:30 and back in Icmeler for around 4.30-5ish.

Maybe Gene will dig out a few photo's when he pops in or paste his report from the day a few years ago.

We did have a 98 year old lady do the walk to the top to admire the view and is she can make it then anyone can

This is the trip we did to Gypsy Beach (this name given to this area by JT)
This new trip is 50lira per person but includes a lot more than what we did, like a breakfast in the mountains,a walk to get some fantastic photo shots of the views of Selimiye, Bozburun and the Island of Symi just of the Greek mainland.
Just to do something more than the normal, enhances our visits to Icmeler and this is one of those trips.

You better take a compass JT it's easy to get lost up there

But to all you good people who take up this offer I can assure you that the breakfast and hospitality you will recieve up in the mountains is second to none and authentic turkish bread baked while you watch, As for gypsy beach I fell asleep in a cabana for a while and did absolutely nothing (bliss) Enjoy your trip we might join you
