Dogs Home Icmeler

I have just been up to the dogs home as a favour for Colette to check on what is happening there.

Jeez you would not recognize it from last year.

It looks like a fort from the old cowboy days as the council have spent a few quid thinking the wooden walls will make the barking better for the locals.

There are lots more dogs there and lots of the regulars have now been housed also.

They need our help desperately so Colette please get your thinking cap on.

All donations can be sent to us and will in all honestly all be given to Jan who looks after the place and puts so much time and effort into it.

I am trying to upload some photos and also videos to show what its all about.

They want walkers if you fancy it when you are here on holiday.

Dog leads, collars in fact anything can be brought over.

Jan does jumble sales through the week so any shampoos, sun creams towels etc you dont need then leave them at our office and we will make sure they get there.

When Colette and her gang are here in May I would suggest that everyone here who are members go get a dog and lets walk them all through the town and down to the beach to give them all a day out and a bit of fun.

Thanks for the video,John. It's great to see them looking so happy. When we were on holiday last year there were some beautiful, friendly dogs that came to the beach every day.One of them used to lay by our beds and we'd take water and food down for them all. We're hoping to see them again in September. How far is it to the dog's home please,I'd like to visit and will bring some treats with me.We have 2 dogs of our own and we really miss them whilst we are away.

Ok I know I have asked this on other threads concerning the dogs home, but I've got my Icmeler artinery book of what to do at the ready. We have 2 dogs (and an African Grey parrot but thats another story) my youngest absolutely loves animals. We want to walk some this year in August. We are staying at the Alvaro I know it's a fair distance from there but where should we head to get near it where someone could point us in the right direction. Also I know it's as hot as hell in August, are there watering holes for the dogs along the way?

Hi adewolves,
I have seen some water taps around Icmeler, but can`t remember where.....................Derrrrrr. maybe someone ( Help JT/Gene   )could put them on the map to help dog walkers.

From the alvaro head towards the Dry canal, turn right and then head for Tommy`s, I believe the Dogs home is 10 mins further on.

I have just upped our baggage allowance( without my girlfriends knowledge;) ) so will bring some treats for the doggies.
She has a lovely choccy lab, who she will miss desperately, and i'm sure she will miss the 2+ hours a day that she normally walks him, so you can count us in for a walk or 3.
But i will let my good lady come in and see you, cos as a nature photographer and animal lover, i can't bear to see animals in cages, they should be as nature intended (and i don't mean that with regards to the dogs, as they are being looked after which is wonderful), but it's a reason i don't visit zoo's etc etc, as animals like birds in small cages etc etc just breaks my heart.
But that's just me :)
Chris

I don't think the dogs are in cages, Chris - if you have a hunt through the photo gallery section, there should be pics of the dogs' home there. They seemed to be running around quite freely within large enclosures, from what I can remember.
