Our holiday in Icmeler

Well got home on monday and have been too depressed to write a report till now. Arrived on 3rd July at the new airport and knew that there would probably be delays with the new airport, there was, waited in large queues to get our visa and customs and then after nearly 2 hours we finally were able to go collect our luggage. The new luggage carousels are bit of a pain, they drop the suitcases down on to the belt, but once the belt is full, no more drop until there is a space. As most of our flight was still in queues upstairs, the cases were stuck. Eventually after about half an hour, one guy got annoyed and started pulling suitcases off the belt and putting them on the floor. This enabled the rest of the suitcases to drop and other started doing the same so that they could claim their luggage. Eventually we got our suitcases and went to our coach, boy was the sun hot!!!! After leaving Glasgow at 10am after a half hour delay and a fire alarm evacuation, we finally reached the Bahar apartments at 9pm and knackered. Had a meal in the apartments - very nice, went to the shop for a few things and then to bed for a good sleep. The weather was roasting and getting hotter each day. We went on a jeep safari - the driver was a maniac and went off road through some water at speed and I went flying up in the air and landed with a bump on hubbies water gun - I hear you all laughing, but I did hurt myself and have had to go to the doctor since returning and he says I have broken bones in my coccix with the force and will eventually heal, but it takes time. Luckily I work in education and have another 4 weeks holidays left, hopefully it will be fine by then. We also went on two boat trips, one with Captain Bullshits and he was charging £10 each with breakfast and lunch. We did find out that others were only charging £6 for the same and when I asked Skinny Rambo why, he started going on about giving a Jaguar car service, not an old car service? We did enjoy the day, but decided to go on anothe one to see if there was any difference. We went with Volcan who works at Sylvia's resturant and there was no difference, we did enjoy the food better, but that is a matter of preferance. Sylvia's was great - A big hello to Jack, Volcan, Mickey, Ajay, Ahmet, and the rest of the family, they really made our holiday as we ate breakfast, some lunches and evening meals there but we also drank there every night before wandering home to our beds at 3am. Well I've ranted on enough now and probably bored you all. Here's to next year and hopefully the holidaymakers will return and it will be busier for them. See you there the first two weeks of July 07.

Hi jejo. thanks your information about Bahar. One question: is there a possibility to buy breakfast from Bahar restaurant, did you test that and was is worth of money?

Thanks for sharing jejo, it gives us all a lot of pleasure reading posts on members holidays.
Could feel the pain when you described the jeep safari, just hope your ok now but I know is uncomfortable at the time.
I know we have a new airport but am dreading the long waits to go through visa and passport control.
Just hope things will improve for everyone once the airport workers get used to the new terminal.

iceman, yes you could get breakfast from the Bahar restaurant, we got the english breakfast, it cost 5ytl and it was good. The sausages were the hot dog type, and you could get turkish breakfast also, but we didn't try it. If you go round the corner to Sylvia's, then the sausage was a proper one and it only cost 3ytl, so we went there most mornings.
Mr Tibbs and redrhino12, don't worry about the airport, hopefully it will be better prepared now and you will also be prepared for the wait, we weren't as the airport just opened before we went, so it was a bit dissapointing as all we wanted was to be in
Icmeler again. On a possitive note, there was no problems on the way back, the queue to get your suitcase scanned went really quick and the longest wait was in the queue to check in and this only took half an hour. This was a big improvement on the arrival.

Hi Jejo
Holiday Blues are the worst feeling ever! I think everyone would agree you just have to look forward to next year now!
I am off in just over a week and only hope the airport problems have been resolved because I think everyone would agree when you arrive at
Dalaman and that Turkish heat hits you, its a rush to get on your transport and arrive in Icmeler! To relax and have a few pints of Efes-Then your holiday is really starting!

Hi JeJo, I enjoyed reading your report and found it helpful. Sorry to hear about your back I can sympathise with you there, and will definitely not be doing the jeep safari. We stayed at the Bahar too and had a great holiday, and we were hoping to return in September but the reports i've read about the delays on arrival is putting us off. Hopefully people on here will keep us updated on the situation. Hope you're feeling better soon.
