working in icmeler

Postby Elayne » 28 Jan 2011 15:51

Hi all
was wondering if anyone can tell me exactley waht is needed for working in icmeler for the season:
work permit, work visa, are these to be got from turkish consulate in London?

i belive you have to have a job offer in place and proof of this by way of letter from your new employer but does this then mean you can only work for that employer whilst you are there? also who do you show this letter to.

Residence permit: do you get this in icmeler?

have been told you aldo have to present yourself at marmaris police station?

any information would be a great help, thank you :)

It will not be so easy now. Check these details that are on the internet;

• As of July 14, 2010, new visa regulations took effect whereby holders of certain passports (including UK passports) receive a visa valid "for up to 90 days in any 180-day period," with validity beginning on the date of first entry.

If you're coming to Turkey for a short tour of, say, a few weeks, and not returning to Turkey in the near future, this restriction would not affect you. But if you come to Turkey for long periods (several months) frequently, you may be affected.

Apparently, the new regulations are meant to restrict foreigners who are, in effect, living in Turkey for part of the year but have not applied for a residence permit as required. For example, in the past a foreigner who has purchased a villa in Turkey could enter the country on a 90-day tourist visa, and at the end of 90 days travel to Greece for a day or two, then return to Turkey and receive a new 90-day visa. In effect, this foreigner would be living in Turkey for six months without a residence permit.

Under the new regulations, this will not be possible. After the 90-day visa validity period passes, the foreigner will have to leave Turkey and not return until an additional 90 days have passed; or the foreigner will have to apply for and receive a Turkish residence permit.

• Have CASH (US dollars, euros or, for UK passport holders, pounds sterling) in exact change to pay for your visa when you enter Turkey. No travelers checks, no credit cards.
—>CASH ONLY!<—

• The term "official passports" covers diplomatic, service, special and official passports. You probably have an "ordinary" passport unless you're going to Turkey on diplomatic, military or other official business. Visa rules for official passports may differ from those for ordinary passports. (Here's how to get a U.S. Passport fast.)

All foreigners who need visas may apply for them to Turkish diplomatic missions. If you do this, apply at least a month before your departure date for Turkey. But if you're a citizen of one of those countries allowed to get a visa for cash at the border (click here), why spend time filling out forms months in advance?

• Foreigners who intend to shoot documentary films, to conduct research, or to do archeological excavation, should apply for special permission in advance from the Turkish authorities.

• Visa requirements for truck drivers may be different. Contact a Turkish consulate.

• You can send comments and questions to the Visa section of Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs at [email protected]

Why on earth anyone would want to work there is beyond me, I love the place to bits but I've never known people work so hard and such long hours in my life, and in that heat as well for not a lot of pay. Good luck to you if it's what you want, but I don't think there's many people in this country would be able to work like they do.

Choc thats is an old statement and the visa requirements in the first paragraphs were lifted.

There will be new regulations no doubt this year but I think this time after consultation with the British government

OK, sorry about that. I wouldn't make any plans though as you never know what they will do.

I do agree with adewolves though as its totally different working somewhere long hours etc and holidaying there, I have done it (not in Icmeler) and know a couple of people who have done it for the season in Icmeler and they dont intend to do it again! you know the saying...."the grass is always greener..........."

Ah I forgot Scotland.

I have found a cheap way in through the winter from Liverpool, 2 flights but connecting within 1.5 hours and straight to Izmir.
