Winter accommodation

Postby jesslbr7 » 28 Oct 2010 21:21

I know most of Icmeler shuts down in winter, but is there any accommodation that stays open out of season in icmeler?

hiya
there are no flights in the winter from scotland direct to dalaman
you will need to go via antalya if you want to go from scotland and that is only from glasgow starting in the new year
the only places that fly to dalaman in the winter are manchester and london gatwick i think and there might be possibly the odd flight from birmingham otherwise there isnt much unfortunately
hope this helps

I had the same problem as I fancied a week in Marmaris over the winter and couldn't find a direct flight from Glasgow. Mind you, transferring in Turkey isn't quite as bad as having to get home from Manchester or London ...

I'm with you on the cost. I go to Icmeler whenever I can and travel solo so I get hit with single supplements + Scottish airport supplement and add to that the cost of getting to Manchester or Gatwick = just not possible :(

completely agree susi its not good
i went to dalaman in march but i went aberdeen-birmingham
birmingham-dalaman and then drove 5 hours when i got there to izmir where my boyfriend lives
nightmare and i know i travel alone sometimes too so i get hit with the supplements
someone told me that istanbul airport (well one of them) is a nightmare to get through and find what your looking for

Do you know who is doing these flights. I would be happy to go somewhere near Antalya if I could get a flight from Glasgow.

Antalya is an all year round resort as in all inclusive complexes.

There are Thomas Cook flights all year to there and very cheap over the xmas and new year

Thanks for that. The thought of getting away in January or February when the weather here is usually poor is very appealing. However is it worth it. How is the weather generally at that time. Is it feasible to get an onward flight to Dalaman but would Icmeler be like a ghost town. Am I better just waiting until May which is when I usually make my first visit.

hiya Ian :)
icmeler is like a ghost town yes there are only a few places open at that time of year
and february can be a dodgey month for rain in turkey
however if you find icmeler too quiet you can always stay there and go into marmaris
or stay in antalya in one of the all inclusive hotels
some of them are stunning :)
hope this helps
