Its been well documented on this site and other holday forum sites about the prices at Dalaman, which are totally riduculous. I think the best thing to do if possible is simply vote with your wallett and do not buy anything. I appreciate that if there are delays it can be difficult, but come on folkks boycott the food stalls and they may get the message

Returned yesterday, 2 small coffes and an apple tea £14.50. Something should be done about the monopoly they have on the tourists.

With respect I cant understand why people pay these prices and then complain about it. The prices are displayed clearly on the boards. Its a disgrace the prices they charge but if nobody paid it they would soon get the message.
Personally I always take my own water etc in and if delayed for a week I would still buy nothing off them.
Its the mugs that pay these prices that keeps this going.
I approached the fast food outlet to take a picture of the prices board much to the disdain of the manager of the fast food shop. I just explained to him politely that it was daylight robbery and I would do all I could to publicize it and warn people about it who were intending to fly to Dalaman. Incidentally Bodrum and other airports in Turkey are the same and I would urge everyone to vote with your feet,
regards,
Michael.

We returned through
dalaman last night, Luckily we knew about prices, after the first X-ray we checked in our luggage, in this area there are 2 cafes ( one at either end ) cake and a coke 5lira, coffee and croissant 7lira. also in this area were toilets and small seating area, this is were we stayed for 45 mins, checking the boards. We then carried on through passport control scanners to duty free, this is where your liquids are removed. I would advise anyone to stay aslong as possible in this area before moving on to Silly Price Land.

Yes good advice there Steve.
As you say you CAN take liquids and food into the airport -its only on checking in that you cant take them with you (legally). Again you are right its best to wait till the last possible moment to check in and avoid the rip off shops after check in.
Of course if one is happy to pay these prices then thats up to you - I just know I wont on principle as it nothing but profiteering on a captive audience for want of a better word.
Its strange that as tourism is so important to Turkey that they allow this to happen. They protect tourists in other ways such as closing bars that hassle tourists too much -its high time this was extended to their airports.
I love Turkey for my hols but the airport prices for food and drink is the only thing that I dont like about the country,
regards,
Michael.

hi all it has to be told as much as possible, any way you can get the message across. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING AT
DALAMAN AIRPORT . ITS a DISGRACE AND INSULTING to good people who spend their hard earned cash and go to turkey year on year, and support the country.i love to go twice a year and enjoy there culture and sunshine, but when its time to come home i am pleased to be free of dlm airport, even with a leg off!!!! TAKE A SANDWICH AND WATER FROM YOUR RESORT enough to last you for a delay,i would rather sling it than be ripped off.after all the flight is only 4hrs we all do without food 8 hrs when sleep at night. fruit also in your hand luggage helps but nothin silly. bill P.S. one year imet a guy nearly in tears shaking his head in dismay at dlm he his daughter and 2 gran kids wanted a burger king each and coke etc. £90 it spoilt his hols. BEWARE

Much as i am loath to say this, we dutifully handed over our frozen water at first check at
Dalaman then proceeded through all other security checks unhindered. Only on arriving home did we realise all sun oils & juice were still in my hubby's rucksack (the one we use for beach etc.) We did this by accident!! But just goes to show you can bypass the security, scary

Dalaman Airport prices are absolutly disgusting!!!
I went to
Icmeler for a cheeky lil week with the hubby and family..couldnt let slip as he wanted to suprise his friends.
Anyway on returning, was so shocked to see the prices, have gone even more expensive if thats possible!!
In KFC a chicken bucket contains 15 pieces of chicken was 75ytl! its just ridiculous and i cant believe people are actually buying these.

they are awful but if your desperate due to the liquid restrictions then you have no choice if you have kids for example or there are delays
unfortunately
dalaman airport is run by a german company so we dont have much say in it

Ah! come on - everyone knows how much of a rip off it is - you don't have to spend any money in
dalaman airport - its all advertised in pounds - lira, dollars or euro - just don't buy anything - its not rocket sience.

We have rolls, crisps etc for the return journey as I absolutely refuse to pay what they ask. Have had sandwiches from restaurants in the past to take with us but it was a surprise to find chips in them! I'm prepared to pay over the odds, but the prices they ask in
Dalaman is robbery.
We always take sweets such as Starburst, Werthers etc out with us for the return journey in case we're thirsty, which we put in our pockets, as its surprising how much a few packets of sweets weigh. I had meant to put water in a few of those 10ml bottles this year as they are allowed to be taken through, as it was suggested in another thread but I forgot to take the bottles out with me. I thought that this was a good idea as I think you're allowed to take up to ten little bottles per person. It might seem a bit desperate but I won't pay their prices as I don't like being ripped off! They'd make a lot more profit by bringing their prices down.

As a couple on here have already stated, what is the point of paying extortionate amounts only to complain later when it is common knowledge they charge the earth for food and drink? ALL airports charge a lot, Turkish ones are probably higher priced than some but I have found they all see us coming. Admitted we have to buy drink once we are checked in but there is no reason at all to buy food there when we can get sandwiches etc made by any bar/restaurants very cheaply and can buy snacks and crisps etc at any of the many shops to eat at the airport. The only thing I ever buy at
Dalaman is a small bottle of water. Why complain when you are willing to pay? The only time they will ever charge a more realistic amount and bring these prices down is if no-one would pay these large amounts and all tourists boycotted these overpriced airport prices.
With all due respect.....DON'T MOAN just DON'T BUY!!!!! Is not rocket science.

Totally agree with previous comments flew back on 20th Sept . A family on the same flight where very vocal at being asked for the equivilent of £5 for a small bottle of coke - but they still bought it !!!

I remember when my and the wife had checked in and were sat near Burger King and that, we had brought some sarnies and crusty bread from the Tansas. Might have looked like a couple of hobo's with a loaf of bread on the table and sesame seeds everywhere, but glad we did now!
Different this year as we have our two year old, but will still take a packed lunch ready for the airport and flight so at worst we will have to buy a drink.
So, the limit on liquids when you go through the scanners and that are, well, no liquids?
