Safety in Resort

Postby redrhino12 » 17 Sep 2010 08:55

Be under no illusion when traveling to any holiday resort in any country,"crime takes place"
To protect ourselves from this we only have to do all the basic things we do at home with a few extra precautions.

Always use the safety box facilities in your Hotel or Apartments.
Never walk about with your handbag with all your money and passports in.
Never leave your valueables lying around on tables in restaurents or Hotels (mobiles etc)
Always check your Bill after haveing a meal or drinks as little extras do get added
Dont be trusting to much of total stangers who would like to help you at the cash machine.
Would you walk home at night in your home town up an unlit road?

Just remember what you do at home to make yourselfe safe and carry this on holiday with you and you will have a fantastic holiday with no nasty experiences.

I find that once abroad most peoples "Common Sense" seems to be left on the plane at the airport, its happened to me more than once.

Forewarned is forearmed

you make an excellent point there Gene...

when i was with my family, i felt totally safe.....

i went with a female friend last year, and stayed at the moonlight- one evening, quite late, we were wondering back, up the road, most places were dark.......when a man on a motorbike came past very slowly....jeez, my heart was thumping...

it was one of the men from the apartments, looking for us, as were hadnt come back....and he knew our sense of direction was shocking...

a lovely simple thing to do, but we felt very vunerable on the dark quiet road...

We email a copy of important documents such as passport, travel insurance etc to ourselves so that if any get lost or stolen we have the info at a push of a button. We also put the travel insurance contact number on our mobiles. So far we've never had to use any of them but its better to be prepared.

Very clever Dragon and a very good tip for all.

As I have my laptop with me all the time its normal for me but lots of people probably don't know that they don't need it if they can access their mails anywhere
