the beach

on our previous visits we have never had a day at the beach....

i would like some help on where to go, is it best to pay for sunbeds? or is there a nice spot where its free?

there will be 7 of us, so if we do have to pay, is it expensive?

It costs 2.50YTL on most of the ones I saw where you had to pay so in English that would be £7.60 for all of you. There is a free public bit and lots of little private bits where you can pay or some are free but you have to buy there food or drink.

Just have a walk along the promenade and read all the signs.

I always smile when I see the sign down at Deniz Kapazi beach, public beach free.

So that means you don't have to buy anything from the bar there but you will of course as who could suffer watching people drink cold beer on a hot day.

You could of course get off your bed and walk to the nearest shop and buy a few and have them warm by the time you get back

Pal of mine just back from South of France. Sunbeds at the hotel they were staying at were 22 quid each, even for guests of the hotel!! Icmeler v v v cheap!!JB

Hi Karen H

I recommend the beach outside Yakamoz restaurant.

Walk to the bottom of the main road (past Harrys steak house, Mandalin and Cupids restaurants, past the new water fountains) and when you come to the beach just turn right. It's just a few minutes walk along the beach path to the Yakamoz restaurant. Ibrahim will look after you well, he keeps the beach really clean.

Sunbed and parasol is 2.50TL each person. The sea isn't too deep there too, so the water's warmer - you have to walk a little way out to get deep water.

I've jused that piece of beach for the last 5 years.

Litterally got home from a fortnight in Icmeler yesterday and soooo wish I was still there!!

We have started useing the Yakamoz beach as well,but they still like you to use the restaurent even though you have paid for your beds.

I never even went in the restaurant (except to use the toilet haha) and only bought 1 drink from Ibo every day.... other friends bought cans in the supermarket and took to the beach in cool bags - not a problem at all.

We went to the area in front of Linekers and ate breakfasts there this year. Not only by eating there did you have the free sunbeds but also use of the crazy golf and trampoline. They kept an eye on my mobility scooter for me whilst I was on the beach. It also suits us there as you don't have to walk far to get to deeper water.

We didn't buy drinks during the day as we took frozen drinks with us in a cool bag.

i went with my boyfriend a few times who is turkish
and when the guy asked for money for the sunbeds my boyfriend just told the guy that we wouldnt be there for long
so the guy didnt make us pay
think thats an advantage of being turkish myself though

Hi Karen

If you follow the directions given by Mazz but just after you turn right look for Patrick (his name is written on a 'rock'). His patch is excellent. All the sunbeds are new, they have hooks on the sun shades for your clothes, there is one table and one rubbish bin for every two beds. He keeps the beach clean and looks after his customers extremely well. Once you have chosen your sunbeds, which are the standard price of 2.5tl each, he will arrange food, drink, ice creams etc all day long and give you the bill at the end of the day. That said, you do not have to get food or drink from him if you choose not to do so. At the end of the day you can leave your towels and when you return the following day your towels are laid on your bed waiting for you. When your towels are a bit grubby he will also arrange for then to be laundered at a cost of 3tl per towel.

The price of sunbeds has been 2.5tl for a number of years. The food and drink is bought from the local restaurants and the beach boys get commission which is why I try and support them but you can spend the full day on the beach for 2.5tl per person. Bargain!

Ive only ever went to the beach in icmeler once to sit (i dont go for sitting on beaches) and i ended up sitting next to the cousin of Black Sabbath guitarist and heavy metal inventor Tony Iommi!!!
I mean, how cool was that!
Im a guitarist and a music teacher so it was awesome.
Im sure we payed for sun loungers but walking past the beach recently I noticed that there were signs up saying free lounger, free shower, free WC but i dont know what the deal was with them, if you had to use a specific bar etc.

We started using coco beach...Messi is a bit of a legend but then used Yakamoz.Ibrahim is a lovely bloke.We did go in Yakamoz afew times but also visited other bars at lunch time...sugars buffalo bar and the garden with no probs.The beach and sea are nice by yakamoz.....wish I was back there....

This sounds spot on for us. (Apart from the deep water bit!)
Me and the mrs are taking our two year old next week, so the trampoline should keep her busy if the sand castles won't. (The 2 year old, not the mrs!)
I remember when just us two went a few years back, trailed all along the beach not really knowing where to go as so much choice. I suppose some spots are better than others so knowing this beforehand is a great help.

We went to the beach in front of Coco Beach and Messi looked after us, remembers everyones name not just from this year but from previous years, brings you drinks all day and will bring the menu as well if you fancy something to eat, there were bins provided and Tables if you wanted one.Or if you prefer to eat in your beds are safe if you leave your towels on them.

Don't worry about the deep water bit, it was fine for us. It was great for our granddaughter who was thirteen months at the time. As we sat on the sunbeds nearest to the waters edge it was so easy. She could sit in the water and splash about alongside the sun bed. She had been walking for a couple of months before the holiday so she could walk into the sea with us. You have to go a good few yards before it's deep, so it will be fine. We always went early enough to have the sun beds nearest the water, dump our things and go straight to Linekers for breakfast. As always my granddaughter loved the attention she received, not only from the waiters but from the Turkish families sitting by us. .
