Never going anywhere else again

Postby dotty » 14 Sep 2010 16:36

Have just returned from Altinkum on Sunday and all I can say is never again. My OH fancied trying somewhere other than Icmeler and I stupidly went along with him. However it wasn't all bad, we didn't rate the resort but the beach area was beautiful...I was looking forward to coming home by day 10.

Definitely not a patch on Icmeler...and thats why I've come back and booked Icmeler for next year 26th May for 2 weeks staying once again at Golmar Beach

Hi Dotty, I felt the same to me Altinkum was lke Blackpool in the sun. It took 3 days of me saying "something doesn't feel right about this place" before I realised NO MOUNTIANS, you could see as far as Kusadasi from our balcony. Not mey cup of tea but each their own I suppose.
Never mind back in heaven Friday morning Yippee.

My thoughts exactly Elaine, there was just no character (or mountains) to Altinkum. We made the most of it but definitely won't be back.

Hope you enjoy your holiday x

Hi, same here. We went to Altinkum too in August. Last year was the first time we had been to Turkey and we stayed in Icmeler, don't know what it was but I fell in love with the place. This year we decided to try somewhere else as we don't normally go to the same place twice, we enjoyed the holiday (think it was more the company we were with, I had talked some friends into coming based on the experience we had in Icmeler last year, they never fancied Turkey before.) There are some nice bars/ restaurants, but I was disappointed that not many did shows after meals, like in Icmeler. I found it to be more hassle, trying to get you in to the restaurant's more, (found them to be rude when you said No Thanks, how they expected you to go in another night after being rude to you, I don't know).
The beaches were lovely though. Found food and drink to be more expensive, but not sure if that's just Turkey this year, will find out next week when I return to Icmeler (just hubby and me) and have some prices to compare it too. :D

Hi Dotty, sorry you both didnt really enjoy Altinkum. I think now its a case of stick to what you like. I managed to cure Phill in April when we went to Salou, after 4 days he turned around and said he wishes that he was in Icmeler.

Only Icmeler for us now. It looks like we will miss you both next year though, so no tablet for me. We dont go until the 11th June next year.
