Self Catering

Postby bikerjambo » 26 Aug 2010 15:40

Doing it for the 1st time this year and was just wondering where the best place to get supplies is? We intend eating out most nights so it'll be mostly breakfast and lunch sort of stuff that we're looking for......so, is Tansas the best bet or is it better to head into Marmaris?

Another question is has anyone ever stayed in the Sun Blue apartments (behind the Marti I think)? Can't find too many reviews on it altho what I can find is mostly good!

Over to you folks.

Hey there fellow Jambo! lol
Tansas is best best in Icmeler but Migros in Marmaris is good for a big shop, kinda the equivolent of ASDA over here.
We go self catering every time as we dont trust all inclusive, but with all that said eating out can be as cheap as buying in food as long as you dont order drinks hahaha.
Ive only got 6 sleeps left, getting excited!!

Hi we just returned and found another supermarket on the same side as tansas but heading towards the A T M machines/green house clothes shop/ICR OFFICE and it was cheap as chips, we think it used to be the pop in bar at one point, anyway the shop just had a logo in orange. hope this helps.

We too are going self catering and have read on another website that some shops have 2 prices for items but there is a card you can buy for 1tl from tansas and you only pay the lowest price so might save a few lira for other things , you have to ask for the card at the checkout.....Also you can use the card in migros ... hope this helps ...

Hi Bikerjambo,

We have stayed at the Sun Blue twice, first in 2004 and then last year in september. The loacation is super. The apartments were refurbished last year, bathrooms clean and nice and we really liked it. Our apartment had two balconies, one facing the pool and one to the street side.
The pool area is not so big, but the sun shines on the pool all day, really nice and hot also in the afternoon when returning from the beach.
Not only Scandinavians staying there, last year there were also British and Dutch people staying there.

If you go there, I can recommend a visit at Winehouse Restaurant a bit further down the street (away from the sea). Run by a lovely couple Zuhal and Erhan, and they make a fantastick Chicken wok.

If you want to know anything more, please PM me.
