hi, I think you are aking this question on the wrong forum as most of us are true Icmelights, So sorry to here that getting fed up with Icmeler every year we say will try somewhere different until we ghet there and fall in love all over again. I think it depends what you looking for in your holiday based on friends who have been there the only other place I would consider is olo Deniz but I believe that this is quieter. We shall return to our little bit of heaven in 2 weeks and I cant wait. 8)

Have to say *whispers* I have been looking at Portugal for next year

Icmeler in 2008....Icmeler in 2010.....Planning for Icmeler in 2011. We've tried other Turkish resorts but Icmeler suited us best by far. They're all much of a muchness. Bigger, smaller, louder, quieter. I don't think the other resorts are "better"....Just different and in some cases, nowhere near as good.It really depends on what you want from your holiday. Wherever you go......Enjoy.

Have a look into Dalyan and Oludeniz. We've holidayed at both over the last couple of years and liked them just as much as Icmeler.

One thing Robin is if you think Icmeler was expensive then you will get a shock when you visit the other resorts.

I travel all over Turkey while I am here and believe me Icmeler is the cheapest.

I'm off to Kusadasi next week to see friends and its a nice 2.5-3 hour drive with expensive beer at the end of it

I have been on holiday in a couple of places in Turkey and my personal ranking is
1. Icmeler

2. Olu Deniz/Hisaronu

3. Bodrum

4. Alanya

5. Kusadasi

6. Altinkum

nowhere matches up to Icmeler

Hi robinbhogal,

We thought exactly the same after being in Icmeler in June 2009 so in September we tried Olu Deniz.

When we arrived we sat in the Buzz Bar drinking a beer watching the paragliders descend and land on the promenade and we thought 'Wow! This is fantastic'. However after a few days we decided that it wasn't a patch on Icmeler.

The beach looked lovely - soft golden sand - but as you approached the sea it turned to small pebbles then larger pebbles then boulders the size of grapefruits. There is quite a steep entry to the sea. The sea is very rough so In order to get in and out you must wear shoes so that you can get some purchase on the pebbles. The sunbeds (which had seen better days) were 6 tl for each bed and a further 6 tl for an umbrella. These charges also applied in the Blue Lagoon (and you had to pay to get in).

The food wasn't a patch on Icmeler. In fact we had the worst meal we have ever been served in Turkey. However, there were lovely restaurants in Fethyie on the harbour and around the fish market (buy your own fish and they cook it for you and serve it with bread and salad for 5 tl). Fethyie is a working town so you can't really stay there.

Prices were much higher than in Icmeler as were the number of mozzies.

On the plus side the transfer is short.

Needless to say it's Icmeler for us June and September this year.

threre is only one resort that can compare with icmeler and that is dalyan.i have also become little tired of icmeler and fancy a change but i know that i will always return once a year at least, bodrum is nice olu deniz is stunning but in myy opinion lacked any character or atmosphere, calis is friendly but shabby, kalkan is nice but the prices really take the **** and it is in no way any nicer than icmeler, dalyan has the friendly comfortable vibe icmeler has ,although it is a lot quainter. But regardless of the love/hate relationship i have with icmeler it is the most friendly place i have ever been to anywhere in world, but i am inclined to think at the moment it is becoming more and more rowdy and expensive in comparison with years gone by
