I came back with Saga Flights last Friday (booked through Kiss Flights - first time I had booked through this agent) and was about to post what a good flight it was, plenty of leg room, friendly attendants etc.

Am shocked that Kiss Flights are another company gone to the wall - hope everyone who is affected by this collapse get their money refunded.

Cant believe how unlucky we have been. Lost original flights from goldtrail and am in the process of claiming these back-probably take forever. Re booked with travel republic and got flights with Kiss only to have lost them too. They were for my daughter and her partner who are 18 and 20. They cant afford any more so looks like their holiday has gone. I know I can claim through ATOL but I cant keep adding on flights to my credit card and waiting for money. I still need to pay the bill. So p***** off.

Could this be the beginning of the end of independant travel?. We had a holiday booked for September with Monster Travel who also " folded ", but fortunately they are part of C0-0PTravel so the holiday was safe (thank goodness).
Will the events of the past few months see people playing safe and booking holidays with the big travel companies ( T.C. ) etc. These events have certainly made me think twice about booking things independently.

The problem is not that at all.

The problem in my opinion is these companies that are allowed by the powers that be to go bust and then start up again under a different name and then go bust again.

Go Google kiss/excel/ freedom and see for yourselves what has been written

I agree, they seem to get away with murder - I don't understand Kiss going bust though! they picked up a lot of business from the Goldtrail collapse so where has this money gone - surely they would be well into the black.

Sorry to hear people have been caught out again - i'm still waiting for my Goldtrail money to come through - hopefully it'll be here in a few months or the kids xmas will be cancelled. :(

Hi we booked with a charter flight which turned out to be kiss flights, our agent phoned us and said they were no longer trading from east mids so she changed our flight for £130 pound more to go from birmingham so we booked it! only to be told the next day that it was through goldtrail and it had gone bust, im sure that they would have had an idea about this and they still took our money to let us down again the next day. Not happy at all but all said and done we will still be going to icmeler as nothing would keep us away, just makes us mad that the agent must of known about what she had done

Aww well, thought it might be too good to be true...never mind, thanks for the thought anyway. Will keep looking...fingers crossed!

PS: Rab - we were booked from Oct 17 to 24, so anything a day or two round about these dates would be good. Cheers!

Not posting this to try and wind up anyone who has been unlucky enough to have their holiday cancelled.

I spend quite a lot of time researching my holidays to try and get what I think is the best deal. I speak to a lot of people who seem obsessed with booking with some obscure travel firm that might save a couple of quid. The last two holidays I have beeked to Icmeler have been packages through T...son.

They have actually been cheaper than any other tour operator I have tried. Including non package deals.

Not sure if you have posted that as a wind up  but you seem to want to rub peoples noses in it. People don't try to book with obscure travel agents on purpose, they try to save money by getting the best deal they can at the time.

We aren't fortune tellers and nobody knows which company can go bust next - who could predict XL or Goldtrail etc. When you book flights with any agent they can put you on any flight they choose so even if you had booked flights with Thomsons you could have still lost them if the carrier had went bust.

As for Thomsons being cheaper than competitors, I don't think you have looked hard enough. Our 1st Turkey holiday was with Thomsons and it was the same price as our last 2 years holidays put together. Checked out what our holiday was this year and Thompsons was £3000 more than what we got it for with a so called obscure agent. It didn't quite work out that way, as we were caught up with the Goldstar saga, but how else would you get an August holiday in Turkey, self catering for 8 people, 3 rooms, for under £2500.00, certainly not with Thomsons.

For those of you affected you are covered by Credit/Debit card visa, if you look on the visa website it states that you can get your money back through them, ask at the bank for a chargeback application form to fill in, we had to go through this just after christmas and it only took 3 weeks to get your money back in, but when checking your bank statement they will put the money back in your account dated the date that your originally paid for your flight, hope this helps anyone

Visa/credit companies - or the one we use (Tesco), wouldn't entertain it as the flights had cover with Atol.
