Turkish Bank Account.

I was just wondering if it is possible as a non resident in Turkey to have an Account with one of the banks in Icmeler and if so would there be any benefits in doing so.
For regular visitors, which is almost everyone you meet, I was thinking could money be transferred from British accounts into it when the value of the Pound was favourable thereby receiving a good rate.
There would be no need to have pockets full of money or use safety boxes as you would make withdrawals from the Bank as and when you wanted too as if you were back home
.......Just a thought.......

John - A good idea, however you need a Turkish tax number to open a bank account in Turkey. To obtain a tax number I believe you need to either own a property or have residency in Turkey.

John, aswell as needing tax number you also need to know that transfering sterling into a turkish bank account does not give you as favourable a rate as depositing liras

we had a bank account there a few years ago, we used the apartment address where we stayed for years with permission from the owner, we had to go to marmaris for a tax number, we did save some money for a couple of years but it was so complicated as we had to have three accounts, put the money in one wait for a month or so then transfer it to another, we could not be bothered in the end and closed it
