not this year

Postby Dancing Lucy » 26 Jul 2010 13:58

Due to financial reasons we decided not to visit Icmeler this year and we got a loan of an apartment in Majorca so only had to pay for a flight I tried to make the best of the holiday but couldnt help comparing everything with Icmeler and nothing matched up. The apartment was the best i have ever stayed in absolutely beautiful but just not friendly people there, I went out to the pool daily and not one person spoke to me not a bit like sitting on the beach at Denis Kapisi where I meet people who I have seen year after year and have a catch up with. Instead of a good meal and a night out with dancing and entertainment by the waiters etc most people stayed in and ate on their 'lovely' balconies we did go out but the meals were plain and very expensive and once served you didnt see any staff again till your table wouldnt hold any more glasses or plates and you had to ask it be cleared. The only entertainment was bingo which we had to play out of boredom!! I will start saving now for a trip back to Icmeler next year my daughter and her family fly out in a couple of weeks wish i could just hide in their suitcases.

Same here, we went to Spain last year but we did like it. However, the same problem, not as friendly as the Turkish and the locals were very rude, I even got into an argument with a Spanish woman on the beach but I won't get into that :? However, due to financial reasons we are not going on a holiday at all this year so saving pennies in a jar and hopefully will book and go for a full two weeks to Icmeler next year only twelve months to wait :( Hope everybody that goes this year has a great time and keep putting your posts and photos on here that is what will get me through the next few months!

Just got back last night after a one year break we went to Portugal last year, it was OK and not as expensive as we feared plus the beaches really are the best in the world, however it all felt pretty soulless and lacked atmosphere.

To be fair prices were pretty much on par this year with Portugal, which was a bit disappointing but Turkey is still a great place and we will be returning next year, but they do need to be careful, the competition for the lucrative Northern European Market is very stiff, and I am hearing that prices in some European resorts are acutely coming down!

And they really do need to sort that airport out!
