Romantic locations & Activities

Postby Phantum » 16 Jul 2010 06:28

Hi,

We are heading to Icmeler today for our honeymoon for 2 weeks and it is our first time there, or even in Turkey. I was looking out for some ideas of quieter and more romantic places we could go to escape the crowds every now and then. Recommended beach locations, tours, nice authentic places to eat... We are expecting it to be hot and lots of people, but any tips for when we want to get away on our own, or with small tour groups would be really appreciated.

Best regards, and happy holidaying!

Congratulations to you both, and welcome to our forum.

I'm sure you will have a wonderful time in Icmeler. I think a meal in Lal (the new turkish restaurant) would be a nice evening out for you. As regards tours, perhaps the village tour would be good, as it would give you a little bit of a taste of how Turkey used to be many years ago. If you are a little adventurous, then maybe a taxi from Icmeler to 'Asparan' would be lovely. This only take approx fifteen minutes in a taxi. This secluded place is up in the mountains and is fantastic for both typical turkish breakfasts and gorgeous evening meals. This is a venue that they use for weddings etc.

If you fancy a few hours by the beach then perhaps a day trip to Cleopatra Island would be good. The sand here is white and so soft, and is a little bit quieter and secluded than most of the beaches around Icmeler/Marmaris.

Hope this gives you a little bit of a 'feel' for our Paradise!!

Hi, firstly congratulations to you both. You will have a lovely honeymoon. This is just a thought but not actually done it myself. You go into Marmaris harbour and see if you can hire a boat just for yourselves and I am sure the ower of the boat will be happy to take you wherever you want to go and may even have inside knowledge of secluded spots. Have a lovely time. :D

I would definatly recommend walking up to the cafe del mar...its a lovely walk along the front as though you are walking to marmaris. The cafe is situated at the top of a small hill out of the way of the centre of icmeler so it is much quieter, and gives you a great view looking over the whole of icmeler, beautiful at night, plus the staff are fantastic as is the food!!

also a great place to sunbathe during the daytime as it has its own private beach with a waitor service.

have a great holiday.

Many restaurants and hotels will do what ever you ask for and even more. We were staying at Chateau De Ville and Aydan the Chef arranged a special private dinner for one young couple who were staying at the hotel at the same time with us. Staff carried a table on the beach, candles, white table cloth and all.. and waiters served their dinner there. Must have been sooo romantic :D So you just come up what you would like to have and ask someone to arrange it.

Not been to the Lal yet but looking at the pics it looks lovely

Selam restaurant is another nice quiet traditional place that would be ideal - down the same road as Travellers Rest restaurant and heading towards Selen 11 hotel

oh, and congratulations too

for a fantastic and peacefull day without music and only a few people go to Kumlbuk never sure how to spell it,go on the boat from Icmeler but when you approach ask the driver to go to the Yacht club side on the right not the main beach on the left. We love it just one little restaraunt the waiter comes down the jetty to meet you it is so relaxing,no children because it is so quite.

When we were in Icmeler in June we were told Asparan has closed, and that info came from a relative of the owner of Asparan. Why not try a meal along at the Liberty Restaurant, they have a jetty all set up with tables, subdued lighting etc - it looks lovely and the location is great - just beside the harbour.

And congratulations to you both, all the best for the future
