worried about distance from resort!!

Postby ale233 » 06 Jul 2010 19:49

Hi, I read the posts all the time on here but have never posted myself. We are going to Icmeler in 6 weeks and have booked into the Bahar apartments. We checked reviews previously and although there were mixed responses, people seemed generally happy with them. However, now that we have booked I am getting really worried about the distance from the apartments to restaurants, bars and beach etc. I have looked on maps but am not sure how long the walk to the front will be, are there plenty of short cuts?! We are going with our 2 year old and our 4 year olds. Also I have read about the laundrettes in Icmeler and just wondered if there was one near to these apartments and if anyone is aware of costs. Sorry for the long winded post!!!! :

Hi I can't answer your post, but I have been having the same concerns. Although my children are older. If I was you , i'd take a buggy for each of them, mine tended to have one till they were about 6 on holiday anyhow especially of an evening. Try to borrow an old on, or buy a cheapy from somewhere local. Also take some comfy shoes, i'm ditching the heels this year and only taking flat and comfortable. There seem to be plenty of bar's to stop and have a little refreshner if you get tired, thats my plan anyway.

i think its going to be flip flops for me this holiday!! I am going to take a buggy for each of them because i dont know how we will carry them all the way back if they fall asleep whilst we are out, It looks like we are miles out. Hopefully there will be plenty of child friendly bars near where we are staying. are yoiu staying at Bahar aswel?

Dont worry - your near the residential area which isnt too far out - maybe 10 mins from Devamli or Florida. Very central they are so you should be fine. Mark

dont worry about bars and restraunts as there is one of each on every corner more a less, and some of the best places are in places you will never of guessed because of the distance from i.e the beach or center ect so dont worry ya socks off lol and just think about icmeler :)

Hi ale233
The reason we like Icmeler is because majority of it is flat. Its only when you are near the edges that you start to climb. Take a look at this http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& ... 8e86a260a2 find the bahar on the left and thats your location,
Kentlisa Oren hill is near the market, this map needs updating but gives nubees a good layout.
Both places are about 10mins from the centre 15 to beach at a stroll.

Hi there is a launderette just round the corner from you (Bahar) next to Deja Vu fun pub, I took a couple of items in and it is 2 Lira per item washed and ironed. You are not far from the central restaurants but there are a few that are quite near you Ozzy's which i can personally recommend, Harry Ramsdens, Love Star and another one on the corner think it was called Wembley bar but i am not sure. Would recommend wearing comfy shoes and not heels as the shortcuts we took to central Icmeler are very uneven surfaces.
Have a great time.

To put it in perspective, from the back of the resort to the beech is less than 1 mile as the Crow flies. :D

When we first visited icmeler we stayed at Club Aquarium which is quite far back and the distance from the centre did concern me a little when first arrived. However, we got used to the gentle stroll down to the beach front and even the slightly tipsy stagger back home at the end of the evenings. We found it was nice to stretch our legs and have a bit of exercise - other than the Efes arm! Nowadays we mostly stay a little bit further forward but really that's just to make sure us girls can wear our killer heels when we want! Also, some of the restaurants do offer a free lift back to apartments at the end of an evening. I'm sure you'll have a great time - we'll look forward to seeing your pics and reviews later.

If you take the road at the side of Tansas, go past the wayside, continue on up that road and sylvias restaurant is on your left.

Hi. We stayed at the Bahar last year. There are lots of restaurants very nearby and the Bahar does good food too.
It's about 20 minutes to the canal/ beach if you cut through opposite the apartments.
The staff were very helpful and Rob is now the manager. He is one of the nicest men we have ever met and we are still in contact a year on.
Taxis aren't expensive or perhaps you could take a buggy for the little ones.
We had quite a few meals near to the apartment and everywhere was ok.
The only reason we are not staying here again when we come in 2 weeks is because they were full! That should say it all!
Enjoy.
