yes you can still get a sunbed but might not be on the waters edge by that time. Make friends with someone who works on the beach and they will keep you some good spots each day!

That's the advice I would give too - if you go to the same place regularly and make friends with the guys running the sunbeds, they will usually save you your favourite spot.

There is a part right around the bay past the Fantasia hotel that you will not see a beach boy on and that is really the only place if you want to take your own food, water drinks etc but there are no sunbeds on it to rent so you just take a towel and lay it on the beach

Myself and daughter walked past that bit of the beach on our way to marmaris in May and I thought it looked nice for a change. My daughter doesn't really like the beach so we didn't get to try it but I might drag my OH there in September - thought we could take a picnic and our towels and have a nice relaxing afternoon or two without all the hustle and bustle of the main beach.

or go on the beds on the public section of the beach, via the main square, they're free and no ties to the bars (allegedly) for drinks. Hubby and eldest daughter went on them last mid afternoon, sometimes you may get one near the front depending if a familys moved off them or you end up on the back row.

so most of the beach is litterally "owned" by some of the bars on the beach front??

yes im stupid!!

the OH has seen some pic floating around of a part of the beach covered in bean bag chairs and beds, and has decided thats where he wants to go... Ive told him countless times they probably cost the earth but he never listens..

what are bed prices or is it more you get the bed free but you buy all my drinks??

There are really two ways of doing it, Sayea - as you've gathered, some parts of the beach are linked to various bars, etc - you get the sunbeds free, but are expected to buy your drinks, food and so on from the beachboys working for that bar. Or, you go to another part of the beach, pay the set charge for the sunbeds - 2.50TL each - they're all set at that price - then you're free to take your own food and drink or buy it from wherever you want.
