LIve bands in Icmeler - 2010

Good evening to all - 1st post on here but have been on hols to Icmeler several times over the last three or four years.

I'm hoping that I can get some updated local info on any bars like Fess (Now Apollon) bar that have live bands on this year. I play drums in my local area for a rock covers band, and always look for live music when abroad.

Two years ago, I sat in with a four piece group in Fess bar, and on another night during my hol saw three Dutch guys play some great blues. Would love to find more live stuff when I'm there with my wife last week of August / 1st week of September.

Last year, we found no one in Fess bar, but found a blues / rock music pub on our last night, opposite corner of the resort off the last road left from the walk to the market road, and only 1 hour before going for the plane !!!!!!! Grrrrr ! Took a business card but seem to have misplaced it - no name to give you !

Anyone help me with info, please ??????

That bar is gone or should I say changed hands but still a bar there and I dont know about the live music.

Try the Chateau De Ville as they have a resident Russian duo and they are good.

Trattoria on the beach also good

Appolon have a young guitarist singer this year who,s very good, not rock but phil collins type of stuff, nice and laid back just like the resteraunt, had some nice relaxing meals there this year.

We've been going for 4 years now, 2 of the years, we've seen full bands, they seem to be Uni students or guys doing a "summer season" away from their proper jobs.

Usually quite good technically with all instruments, but struggle to sing in English with some of the phrasing not quite correct. Always enjoyed listening, and occasionally getting up to jam with them on drums or singing harmonies.

Interestingly, the bars are usually packed when a live band is on, it's different to the local karaoke and dancing or thumping discos, which just go over my head.

I'll look out for the guy in the Appolon if nothing else - any live music is good !

Acko Just back after 3 weeks in Icmeler, saw 2 live bands (painful to my ears,sorry) but saw a few in Marm which were quite good and one would let you jam.

I've found the business flyer from the bar that I was looking for - it was the "Richmeler Cafe Bar" on Menderes Street, next to Selen Otel.

Anyone know if the place is open this year and if they have any live music ??? - arriving late 23rd / 24th August for 2 weeks of bliss, and some live music would just top the holiday off for us!

Pier 15 on the beach promenade back of the L'etoile hotel had a live group, female singer, bloke playing trombone and flute and guitarist, think they played tuesday, thursday and another day that i cant remember.

And was in a nice garden setting. Was quite relaxing atmosphere.

Hi Acko, Richmeler Bar is down the road on the other side from the Travellers Rest. They don't have a band but the guitarist who used to play in the Bamboo. Hope you enjoy.

I did post a reply to this but it aint went up for some reason!

Ill vbe ariving in Icmeler with my guitar on the 2nd of september, if you take a set of bongos (or you can buy em cheap from the music shop in Marmaris) we can have a jam!
I play mainly blues but all types of music.
" years ago me and my bro in law went for a walk to the beach with a guitar and got stopped and asked to come into every pub on the way and play for free beer which was a bonus, also met a club promoter thats only 50 miles away from us so that was a bonus.
As for live bands, i havent seen any in Icmeler but have seen plenty guitar duos etc but im sure they will be easy to seek out if they are there.

The only full live band I discovered was the visiting four piece from Marmaris to the Aqua Hotel on Tuesday evenings - good band , very tight, lots of good song choices for a mixed audience...... and an ENGLISH LEAD GUITARIST / VOCALIST AS WELL... all lyrics heard very clearly!

Excellent drummer by the way !!

Wasn't struck by the Russian guitar / vocals soloist next to the Appolon Bar........listened , but kept walking past !

Nothing at Richmeler as stated previously!

Looks like most our hol will be taken up with karaoke bars for our 10 year old daughter who does a pretty mean Bohemian Rhapsody!
