Th*ms*n flight change :(

Postby dj_sploits » 01 Jul 2010 06:22

Hi everyone.

Me and the girlfriend are due to fly out to Içmeler on the 12th July. I booked the flights with Th*ms*n back in January. I paid for the day flights (I hate night flights) and paid for extra leg room seats (I'm 6 foot 3). The seats choice became available online and I went on and picked our seats together with the extra legroom. Brilliant, all done......or so I thought!
I get an email yesterday at 3pm saying they had changed my flight details. I was now being put on a night flight going out and coming back. Original flight times were:
MAN (8:00am) - DLM 12/07/10
DLM (3:00pm) - MAN 19/07/10
Changed to
MAN (6:00pm) - DLM 12/07/10
DLM (1:45am) - MAN 20/07/10

Obviously this put me in a stinker of a mood and I decided to phone them. Well I spoke to a female who repeatedly told me she was sorry but there was nothing she could do. They have basically overbooked the flights and I wasnt allowed on them. After arguing and arguing I quickly searched the net to see if the flights were still available. I found the day flight out was still available and told the woman that. "Oh I didnt realise that was still available" was all I got from her. I managed to get her to DUMMY book us on the original flight going out but I'm still in limbo for coming back. The day flight coming back is unavailable so its a night flight back. We either have to come back at daft o'clock on the following Tuesday (which will result in me having to pay extra at the hotel to keep our room on for an extra day....if its available) and the girlfriend can't take an extra day off work, or we lose half a day of our holiday and come back at daft o'clock Monday morning. They are phoning me back today to see what is available. After that I will have to phone ICR to change my transfer for going home.

From the rant you can probably tell I am really peeved off. I have no idea if I'm going to get my extra legroom seats but they have told me if I dont they will give me my money back for that. We were booked in the VIP lounge at Dalaman and would have eaten there (food available in the lounge) but now that will be closed so we will be forced to buy the expensive food at the airport or food on the plane.

1st time I have booked with Th*ms*ns and definitely the LAST !!!!

Regards,

A rather peeved off Sploits :(

Hi its a right pain, but its happening a lot with all flights this year. I'm with tommy cooks and ours changed from an dinnertime flight to late afternoon flight and am waiting for tickets to see what the return is (lost the notification letter) but have also flown with Onur air and that changed 4 times during the year prior to the holiday.

we go on the 23 july, havent booked my transfer yet waiting till i get the tickets in case of any further changes.
You cant really do anything either as it has to be a 12 hour change to the times before they offer the right to cancel but then you'd pay more per seat for a new flight this late on so they have us over a barrell literally.

They usually try and honour the extra leg room seats unless its on a smaller plane with less legroom seats, but you may find that they use a bigger plane to accommodate the extra passengers.

Enjoy your hols.

Hi Vikki and Bev,

The whole operation stinks. I don't know how they can operate like this. I'm going to be returning to Içmeler in May 2010 for my 30th and I think I'm going to leave the flights till last minute. At least then not a lot can go wrong. I quickly looked at booking my July flights with a different airline and if I had of waited until now I could have flown £200 cheaper with food and extra legroom. Defo leaving the flights last minute.
It also annoys me that they will have had my money in their bank since January making interest on it and then they fob me off. Makes me sick.

Oh well onwards and upwards. "Thomson - With you in Mind" - Ha I don't bloody think so!!!

I totally agree with you dj the whole thing stinks and how they can treat people like this is beyond me ,when folks spend hours hand picking their hols to the very last detail so they get it just right and pay for the holiday and look forward to it only to be hit with crap like this its so wrong your doing the best thing with last min flights as you say no more let downs and stress good luck with it all and i hope you have a fantastic trip :D

Well we now have a rather surprising twist.

Thomson have just phoned me. A rather helpful chap called Matthew phoned me and told me he had good news. We are now booked on the ORIGINAL flights with our extra legroom. All this stress, worry and arguing for absolutely nothing. At least now I dont have to change my transfer. I'm glad we are back on the original flights but what a pain in the a*se it has been. If they dare change it last minute then heads will roll

Still wont be booking again with Thomson's though lol.

Thanks for everyones input.

I had the same problem with TC in may , got to LGW at 07.00 to be told the flight was put back till 14.15, because the inward flight was 3.hours late arriving, this was despite it showing on the BAA website as being a 14.15 take off 12 hours before, Oh and on check in a pre printed notice explaining the (so called reason) was given to each passenger, Eventually arrived at hotel at 23 030 their time so missed dinner, which had been paid for, when sendind stinking e/mail to TCs head office the only reply was, cant do any thing try claiming on insurance(this was through TC,so no chance). politely pointed out that i,d spent£12.000 with TC over the past 4 years on holidays and other services, but that would be the last money the ever get out of me, seems like they want to take Extras off you when booking but cant actually give you what you pay for, as i say last time with them for me, their loss i,m afraid and talking to other people i,m not alone.

Hi Kentcabbie. It makes your blood boil when you get messed about. The money you throw at them only to have them mess you around :(

Bev, I have asked for conformation and he is going to send it (we shall see). He also gave me a new booking reference and a number to phone for the extra leg room seat bookings so I will see what they say

Sploits - sorry to hear your being messed about it aint good is it. Me and the wife dont mind night flights and usually choose them over day flights but thats no consolation to you. Hope you manage to get is sorted. When we returned Fri 25th June the VIP lounge at Dalaman was open 0300 in the morning so if it doesnt sort itself you may still reap the small benefits this loung appeared to have on offer. We go with Th****ns normally and have never had a problem before. This year on our return to the airport after all the hotel pickups our rep got off the transfer bus and we travelled without a rep to Dalaman for 90 mins. Needles to say i too have spoken to Th****ns and am awaiting a response re this serious breach. Good luck sorting your flights mate!!!!!! Happy Hols - just gotta wait til September me til im back - Th***s C**k flights this time so heres hoping i dont encounter any of the advertised problems. Take it Easy!!!!

Never had a flight change with any company except once with TC and it was only half an hour so didn't really make much difference!!
