set restaurant

Hi all

Just back from holiday, again doing the two-centre thing at Olu Deniz and Icmeler. Had a great holiday but won't be posting a review as our time spent in Icmeler was just total chill, didn't do anything but relax by the pool, heaven!
One thing I do want to mention is our last meal in Icmeler which will definately be our last meal EVER in Set restaurant. What an ignorant, fat, little man they have as manager, well think he was the manager, he certainly strutted about like he was! As it was our last meal and we were being picked up at 10pm we didn't want to sit down and eat a heavy meal, especially as I'm not the best traveller and my stomach was already doing somersaults. Three of us decided just to have a pizza each and hubby asked if they could do him a sliced kebab wrap (he'd already said he would go to the little turkish place just up from ICR offices but I wanted us all to eat together). Anyway this fat little guy said yes, he could do a wrap no problem, but it would be better than the usual wraps. He also said that we wouldn't be wanting the bread and mezes, which is compimentary, as we were having pizza. For this please read ' I won't be serving you bread and mezes cos you're not spending enough money here'.
When the meals finally arrived, a good 50 minutes later, my hubby's wrap wasn't what he'd asked for and he couldn't eat it. When they came to clear the table we complained and asked if we would be charged for the wrap, and of course we were. Needless to say they didn't get a tip and we won't be setting (pardon the pun) foot in this place ever again. You have been warned

I just think its a strange place. In 2008 we had a meal there and all ended up with pizza because it was actually quite dear compared to some of the other restaurants we had eaten at. But it was the wierdest expereince. The waiter didnt speak at all, he nodded when he took the order but no other words were uttered.

In the end i thought he was messing about and just managed to keep a dead pan face. If he had a vocal disability he would have communicated some other way, he didnt even smile, so it was very wierd experience. they didnt get a tip or return custom either.

We still talk about that now.

Elkie with your issue you had I would still have expected the bread and dip. I've often just fancied a donner kebab from the lunch menu at dinner time and still had whatever free starter there was, so agree i imagine it was because of the not spending enough.

Bev
I am still so angry about this incident. If all the turkish restaurant workers were like this guy then Icmeler would be in trouble.
