MOSSIES

Postby sarah1 » 23 Jun 2010 19:10

Was wonder what Icmeler is for the dreaded mossies. I hate them, but for some reason they seem to love me. Usually use Avon's Skin so Soft, but am wondering if i need something stronger? Arrive next monday, and any advice would be appreaciated.

Thanks

Hi,
I use ELHAMRA lemon cologne, which you can buy
practically everywhere in Icmeler and is very reasonably
prices-we have never been bothered yet.
Hope this helps

Thanks. Mossies are the only thing that puts me off going abroad on holiday. But saying that we've started getting them in England, but not to the same extent as other countries.

The mossie man still goes around spraying the mossies, saw him earlier this month. I used Avon skin so soft and never got bitten.

I use the Avon SSS too and it seems to work for me. I don't find Icmeler that bad for mozzies really though, and I'm a magnet for the little blighters. I've never been bitten as badly as the two times I've been to the Costa del Sol - I've still got the scars to show for that, and the first time was almost 30 years ago!

the mossie eggs are still sprayed early spring,to keep them at bay . there is a council tanker goes round late evening spraying the streets, can sometimes be mistaken for a diesel smell ,in the air.the lemon cologne ,gives a little relief after the bite, but not very effective allday.keep away from stagnant water ,trees etc. use vick instead of aftershave if desparation sets in. i've heard that if you take odorless garlic caps before you go the mossies will leave you alone as they can smell it through the pores in your skin, never tried myself though, i find the lemon water is great and like already stated in a reply it is available all over..

enjoy your hols...........

That'll do for me. Order a raki, dab a bite if i get one then drink the rest. If i don't get a bite will drink the whole lot :D

If they like you that much I'd take some spray repellent, autan or something, and spray before you go out in the evening - there's nothing worse than getting bitten to death!

Take a "mozzie mat" electric plug and have it going while you're sleeping... also make sure you take some cream with you in case you're bitten - I always carry a tube in my bag, the sooner you get it on the bite/s the quicker the itch will stop, I can recommend Anthisan from any supermarket or chemist.

I have to say Mozzies generally love me, but the Turkish ones really don't seem that fussed (thank goodness!)
