We just got back on tuesday. The rate we were getting was between 2.25-2.29. We actually got a better rate at the supermarket underneath the prince apartments. Normally we always go to the guy under ICR but whilst we were there the Prince supermarket was recommended to us as having the best rate so went there the last couple of times to change money.

Wow if it keeps climbing like the last couple of days it will get a nosebleed

2.36 37 on the site this morning was 2.29 on Tuesday.

it was onthe radio this morning that the £ is at its strongest against the Euro for 18 months, perhaps it is not unconnected with the YTL increase.

The question now is when to buy some before my September holidays :?:
Hope my prediction of 2.45 by the 17th July now has a chance, hasnt looked like it for some time.

Pete.

on a similar vein peeps... just about to order my travelers cheques on line and wondered if anyone can advise me. If I order sterling t.chq's I get charged commission but dont with euro t.chq's however when you work it out there is not much of a difference. When I get to Turkey will it make any difference on changing them to lira? Last year in gumbet we had euro t.chq's and I jst felt I wasn't getting as good a deal, what do you think?? Ta in advance.Mgt.

Definately Sterling, we take them every year and the BEST supermarket gives us the same rate as cash, don't use the change shops or the banks they charge commission.

Current interbank rate 2.39, if the Bank of England raise the interest rates by 0.25% next month I think it could get to 2.55 easily.

Also a raise would not impact mortgages due to most haveing a capped rate anyway but will definatley help the savers a little.
