Ok so im worried the OH is freaking out and personally its his fault .. oh wait forgot to mention why im posting

So in febuary I posted off the Little mans passport application and told OH to get his signed and pop in post..

Him: "no probs babe done it"...

now lets flash foreward to this morning, cleaning out the boot of his car..

Me: "uhm whats this"
Him: "an envelope *snickers* dunno why?"
Me: "this is your sodding passport thought u sent it off *insert extreme amount of swear words"
Him: "i uhm.... i dunno thought i did i sent something somewhere"
Me: "you told me you got your passport and it was in your desk at work, ring and check now.... NOW"

30 mins later......

Him: "uhmm no, dont have a passport *insert bemused stupid man look here*, ill send it now get it back in a week no probs"
Me: "hello moron, 6 weeks for a first time one, we go in 5 weeks.. *insert more extreme language here*.."

ok so that was over dramatic but the long and short is, the eejit never posted it or recvied it god knows what he was thinking, but not im freaking out because the website says 6 weeks.... does this mean he is staying home HELP :( omg...

Hi

If its a renewal he could use the post office check and send it should take about 2 weeks to recive the new passport the other way is for him to request an appointment at your local passport office and do a same day service but this will cost you extra check the passport website for details

Woops!! First time applicants now need to be interviewed before being granted a passport. This could take a little longer than 6 weeks. Your OH could well be waving you and Little Man goodbye whilst the plane is dissapearing from view...
Don't panic...I am sure everything will be alright :?

er very hard actually i would rather they took 6 months than give the passport to the wrong person or to someone who wasnt entitled sorry to sound harsh but after having my passport nicked whilst using the PO check n send and having to stand up in court and justify who i was whilst the accused in the dock and swore she was me or being hauled out of the queue at passport control in the uk and having to justify who i was and if it was a genuine passport. I hope the passport comes in time and you have a good laugh about it later

The checks carried out are fairly extensive. The obvious checks are:- Your residence status, national Insurance record/s, employment records, Birth/Marriage records. Just because someone provides a Birth/Marriage cert in their application, doesn't mean it's legit, they therefore contact the registrar detailed on the certificates.

There are other checks such as with the Immigration and Nationality Directorate, Police, NHS, CRO, possibly your education records and so on. The purpose of these checks is to ensure that the person applying for a passport, has a 'history' as a UK Citizen and one that ties-in with the details you've provided in your application, including possibly taking up references from the person who signed your passport photograph.

If it's any comfort, if you're a born-and-bred UK Citizen, the checks won't take as long as if you are -say- a 'natutalised' citizen and the 6-week turnaround will be the maximum length of time you'll need to wait.

Welllll OH is currently sleeping on the sofa as he should... and making pitful sniviling noises everytime i glance at him

Ive told him that if he doesnt have a passport im going with the lil one alone, and finding myself a hot man who isnt a muppet to replace him.. made me feel better anyway..

BIG thanks to sharon for the email... will hopefully not be in touch, but will post a lovely photo of me in icmeler with the OH in scotland in 5 weeks :D

My daughter got her first time passport back in 4 weeks. We used the Post Office check and send service. The only delay was waiting for her interview appointment - you need to ring and book for the following week but the passport is usually issued within 4 - 5 days after that, so I hope your husband is lucky!!

Sorry I cannot hold back any longer,    I have been in fits of laughter reading these mails, and I am so looking forward to the next episode.

As I said in the e-mail I will look for flights for him if needed, but I don't expect I will have to.

Can't wait for the following posts, keep them coming, maybe your OH would like to have his say, and will hopefully be just as entertaining as this mail.

Seriously though, Fingers Crossed. :!: :!:

Just imagine the money you would have available to spend at the Jewellers as you won't have to spend a penny feeding or watering the OH.

There again if the passport does arrive which I hope it does make him buy you some jewellry anyway for the stress he has caused you.
