after 2 weeks at the Diva. Excellent holiday - met up with some people we knew when we were there in September last year.
Hotel very good - the restaurant Chef (attached to hotel) where we got 10% discount on meals was brilliant and we did eat there several times.
Location of the hotel is very central to the canal area although you dont get the noise of the canal there. Would certainly stay at this hotel again.
Had a go at waving to my colleagues in the office on the web cam, only to be shouted at by a german family as I was standing on the exact square foot of Icmeler pavement the chap wanted his picture taken on!! I think he understands that English families are similar to the imoveable object!
Had a wonderful trip out to Datca with a group of friends - beautiful place to visit but the road is not for the feint hearted although the views are fantastic.
Visited the Geordie bar several times as we have known Christine there for some 5 years now - although Gazza the head waiter left mid-way through out holidays to spend 2 years in Edinburgh - he sent a text to Chirstine complaining it was cold and that was in the middle of our mini "heatwave"!
Managed to find Sabri's bar (Sad Bas**rds Club) - from the top of the canal take a right turn at the corner of the Geordie Bar and keep walking and he is across the road at the junction. It is a nice little bar now and Sabri had a Georgian Violinist playing some nights who was wonderful to listen and relax to!!
I did meet up with some people who were complaining that Icmeler had changed for the worse over the last 10 years - but I can't say I noticed it too much although the hassle was worse than ever before but I put this down to the fact that tourist numbers are down this year - bars seen to be blaming the World Cup - cant see that myself as we seem to have watched every game!
Really envious of anyone going again this year but may manage to persuade the better half to put his hand in his pocket again before the end of the season - never mind lookng forward to next year!
