we got back this morning after two weeks ,during that time the love boat & the masala were shut down for hastle there are cameras all over the place ,top middle and bottom of canal outside icr office in middle of road up lamp post all the sellers are afraid to be seen as hastling , the under ground market has only one shop open on the first side rest are shuttered up,second side is nearly all open .

i think it's a good thing, if it's used fairly. hopefully it will be possible to tell the true hasslers, and not punish those who are genuinely chatting with customers who are happy to have a chat i.e. NOT hassling.

when we first started to go to turkey it was really bad in mamaris they would not leave you alone they would follow you and try and pull you in so glad its all changed

it was really bad with hassle when we first went to icmeler
its a good idea trying to eliminate it
but its not fair for the restaurants that are generally taking an interest in their customers and old friends and just having a chat

I agree that cutting down on the hassle is a good thing, but I also agree with Katie - it's a shame for the staff in the restaurants if they see people they know and can't even have an innocent chat with them for fear of it being mistaken for hassling. It's nice to be able to stop and renew old acquaintances.
Last year, I found the hairdressers and stalls selling the boat trips and excursions the worst for hassling, to be honest. It's not so bad this year - the worst we found was down on the beachfront where you couldn't walk a few steps without being hassled for sunbeds.

the council need to stop that as well as the restaurants

Agree with you all about the hairdressers, trip sellers. Last year did my head in walking on the beach prom. Every few yards was "do you want sunbeds" I got sick of being polite and got to the plain no we dont stage.

I'd assume the cameras are for security like in our towns.

It would be very hard to prove if it was hassle or just a general hiya not seen you since last year scenario.
Its got to be fair as well and not guilty till proven innocent.

You get more grief in the daytime I think, because there's fewer people walking to the beach or not in big groups. i.e. if they get caught you can sneak by, then you get caught at the next one.

Barons was still the worst place he could mither you from a mile away. Someone said its shut now.


I think what is intimidating is when someone blatantly says "why aren't you eating in my restaurant" (Barons again spring to mind). The answer he got last year was we did the year before (chicken in orange and it wasn't nice drowned in oranges).

I think its a good thing that they are clamping down on it ,i have experienced hassle on an aggressive level a few times abroad and it puts a damper on your hols and it gets to the point you avoid certain areas of a resort like the plague thers's a difference between sellers having a freindly chat and harrasing you to eat at there resteraunt shops ect so hopefully that will come across and it will calm down when they see that most sellers are heeding the warnings

Nearly all streets in major UK towns/city centres have cctv, whats the difference. They are there for a reason, and it won't just be to check on the hassle.

We have to agree with you WL.
Many times during the day walking past trip touts and hairdressers was like the walk of hell.

I even had the guy we booked with shouting at me to come over and tell people how good and nice he was .
I said yes we have booked with you BUT we have yet to go on one of your trips....
He then said YES I GIVE YOU GOOD PRICE for Scotland people and I make no money for me as I like Scotland .

We played him off against the trip bloke next to Richards Bar for a turkish bath it ended up being at the hotel down past the dolums terminal near Harmony wasnt very good. his price started at £12 or something then down to £8 each and he messed up the booking.

Mum got diddled with jeep safari as well they were charged for hiring water pistols on the Safari that were supposed to be included, he's a right one to put it mildly.

You learn as go along.

this year will sort me own turkish bath out, either via the hotel we're staying at or if its still there the one under the corner shop on the same block as Vinces as it looked quite done etc last year.

We stayed at Vinces for the last week in June last year ( I think ) if you stayed the same time as us you will easily remember us.

We booked 2 trips with the same guy and have to say we had to cancel both trips as our son was not feeling good
( no refund and we did not expect one ).
He was happy to give us new dates if we wanted,and in the end Jacqui went on the jeep safari with 2 kids and I stayed in Icmeler with my youngest son. we did not go on the other trip to the mud baths so they scored £s with that one..

Its small things like this that make us want to come back to Icmeler
