Icmeler Online Holiday Forum & Reviews - Turkey

I drove around last night looking for something different and a nice quiet place to sit for a while and even though I drive past the Lal every day, for some reason last night it look more appealing than usual so decided to park up and sample its fare.

The menu is the most extensive menu I have seen in a Turkish restaurant and if you want egg and chips or spag bol or steak and chips then this is not the place for you.

If though you want an authentic Turkish kitchen with perfect atmosphere and live music then this is definitely the place for you.

No loud music coming from others bars surrounding it or noise from gangs of people walking around the streets to get to other bars.

I have never seen so many delicious starters/mezes on any menu and they were actually brought out to me on 2 gigantic trays as I mentioned that I would rather pick at starters than eat main meals and they looked fantastic.

After a 4 or 5 starters and a nice bottle of wine I just relaxed and took in the atmosphere and listened to the relaxing live music and got on with my main meal of the Lal special lamb, wow is all I can say and you have to be there and try it all to realise what I mean.

I will be popping over there today sometime to take some photos as it is a really nice place and something everyone should see and try.

I have already reserved a table for Sunday evening next week and will be taking the staff from the office for the evening so they too can enjoy the Lal restaurant.

For people that do not know where it is, it was formerly known as the Meysen and is situated just past the babadan aparts and close to nefis Pide on the way into the village from the town centre.

Once the meal was finished the owners came over and introduced themselves so there was nothing pushy about the experience and very nice people they were too so I know I have gone on a bit with this report but as you all know it is not often that I recommend any restaurants but this one is truly special so please if only once on your holidays to Icmeler you feel like you want to experience something authentic then go and visit Lal restaurant

Me & Mum walked past Lal on our first morning back in Icmeler. We recognised the man on the door from Harmony Bar last year. It looked lovely under the tented area and the man on the door told us about the live music in the evenings. We decided to go back that evening for our dinner before venturing down in to the centre of icmeler. That makes it sound miles back but its really not that far back. Just past Babadan like john said.

The food we had was awesome. We both had Lamb Chops which were to die for. The turkish can cook lamb so well. We had a lovely meal there.

We went back for breakfast a few days later. The man asked us whether we wanted breakfast or lunch and we said breakfast. He apologised to us and said that they don't do English breakfast. We both said that is good because we would like a Turkish breakfast. We hardly eat an English breakfast when we are home let alone when we can have a wicked Turkish breakfast.

If you enjoy proper turkish cuisine then Lal is the restaurant to go without having to go to one of the local Pide cafes. Will deffinately go back there for another meal. Most recomended. I am sure the pictures that John posts will influence people to visit.

Sounds great!! We are staying at the Bonjour in a couple of weeks and will try it. Directions please.

Come out of Bonjour turn right keep walking straight up until you come to the main road. Cross over and go down the right hand side of the Azra, keep going straight; past Romance Palace, Babadan Apartments, Pizza Tomato and The Lal is just a little further up on the left.

Is this place have a lot of plants etc out front? wonder if it used to be the restaurant owned by the same bloke that has Aysima

It was formerly the Meyzen, don't know who owned that though.

If its anything like the Meysen you'll not be disappointed, live Turkish singing, grape vines growing over your head, really peaceful surroundings and only 5 minutes walk from centre of Icmeler, what more could you want

Its got to be the same place then, im sure this was owned by the buy who has Aysima, he used to give us a lift home and then moan it was empty when we drove past. Perhaps he has sold it then.

Trust me, Garry, it's well worth the visit. Definitely one of our favourites now. Two of the best meals we've ever had in Icmeler, and we've never had a bad meal anywhere, so that's saying something!

This place does sound truly amazing. We'll definitely be spending some lira there next week. I think you're right Erik it was the same place that was owned by Ramazan, the guy who owns Aysima.
