hi Vicky, from info i have had back recently 2.20 lira seems to be the exchange rate in resort so that would equal 11 tyl would be £5 or 22tyl would equal £10,I know over the years i have allways worked on your sum of 10 tyl was £4 etc but you do have to work on the lower rate its a good 10% less than last summer, but it may go up a bit in the next few weeks.hope this helps and i know we are on holiday and should not be counting the cost but when the money runs out with 10% of the holiday still left you will wonder why??

A good idea is to keep a note in your wallet or purse of what the equivalent is in English for various amounts of lira -obviously it depends on what the exchange rate is but at the moment it's about 2.20 to the £1 so 10 lira would be £4.50, 15 lira would be £7, 20 lira £9 and so on... of course it's always going to be an approximate conversion as the rate can change daily, but if I'm shopping I find it helps to have a note like this so I can quickly see what the price is in English and I don't have to over-exercise my brain! You'll get into the swing of it after a few days there

yeah if i was you i would work it out as you have been doing ie £4 = 10TL then add a pound on or 2 depending on the amount
for example due to the low exchange rate 20TL is about £9 now
hope this makes sense and helps :)

I'm the same I normally use £4 = 10 Lira, it makes it simple, however for this year I like Katie's idea for every 20 Lira add £1 if the rate stays low as it is at the moment.

Try this web site: http://www.xe.com/ucc/

You will be able to find the rate on the day before you go. You can convert UK pounds to Turkish lira or vice-versa. You can do this in whatever amounts you require for convenience eg: 1TRY - 1GBP, 5TRY - 5GBP, 10 - 10 etc. From this, you can make a whole list of amounts/conversions that are likely to be used - and you don't even have to work them out for yourself in the first place (and you'll be quicker than hubby). How's that for no strain on the brain?

Not at all Vikki - you're more than welcome. Have a great holiday. I see that this is your first trip to Turkiye - in my opinion you couldn't have chosen a better resort as an introduction. It's the only place I have ever revisisted for a holiday (three times over the years). I haven't been for 12/13 years and I'm really looking forward to seeing the place again. When do you go by the way? Me & the missus are there with our 4 year old June 14-18. Maybe see you there.

Enjoy... :D
