No more visa??

Postby cassia » 26 May 2010 18:31

I've just heard off my mum who got told by her Turkish friend that there's no more ten pound visa at Dalaman airport, that it got scrapped 2 weeks ago..

Just double checking if this is true..?

Another bottle of vodka for me at dity free

i dont think this will be true
but if it is
does that mean that tourists can stay as long as they want ?
or will it still be limited to 90 days ?

Having just got back, I can assure you all that this is not true, we all happily paid our £10 visa.

i was going to say
the turkish government wont be doing without getting their £10 from each person entering the country
that would be too much of a loss to them as they must make a fortune as there is numerous planes coming in and out all the time from dalaman alone
and thats only one turkish airport
think of all the rest

I never knew that it was only us people from the UK who paid to get into turkey, i thought every country did.

My friends from denmark have never had to pay, aparently to do with maggie thatcher her increasin the tax in turkeys imports soo thats why they started charging uk residents to get in..

I dont mind paying the ten pound but it could just as easily be a bottle of vodka for the apartment with no complaints

recently, visa and the $20 charge to visiting Russians is waived by Turkish Govt and in return Turks are not asked to get a visa to visit Russia either.

Turks used to pay $100 for a visa to visit Russia so I think Turkey got a better deal out of this agreement. (suprisingly) :)

The list on the above link is not updated - i.e UAE and some other arabic countries no longer need a visa to visit Turkey and how come Canada has to pay the highest visa fee?? weird! :)
