Eyjafjallajokull, as this Icelandic Volcano with the unpronounceable name seems intent to be threatening the skies of Europe and in particular UK flights for sometime to come. I wondered what alternative name we could call it, that we all would be able to say.......

Yes its really bad again, posing problems in Ireland today and England maybe later or tomorrow.
Hopefully nobody is affected that is due to fly out soon - its such a worry.

Our cases are packed. Fear the worst Due to fly from Manchester tomorrow !
Mixed thoughts as I got up to the news this morning - Very dissappointing but also you get no 2nd chances with aeroplanes so safety is paramount.
I guess I ll have to make some calls today see what our situation is (Turkish Airline) booked through ICR.

This is the latest from NATS the airtraffic control people
'' Latest statement on the volcanic ash situation
Update on Sunday 16 May, 1030
The CAA’s no-fly zone required by the high density volcanic ash cloud will not affect London airports for the period 1300-1900 (local time) today.
The no-fly zone for this period has moved east to a line stretching from Prestwick on the west coast to Humberside on the east coast and south to a line just north of Birmingham. Airports which fall within the no-fly zone include all those in Northern Ireland, Ronaldsway, Prestwick, Carlisle, Manchester, Liverpool, Doncaster, Humberside, Leeds Bradford and East Midlands and some Scottish island airports including Campbeltown, Islay and Barra.
There are currently no other restrictions within UK airspace. According to information from the Irish Aviation Authority, Dublin will remain open until at least 0100 tomorrow (Monday) and Shannon until 2300 tonight.
We are working closely with the Met Office and with the CAA, which agrees no-fly zones based on Met Office data, and will issue any further notice on this website as necessary''

My friend was flying to Turkey yesterday, I dont know if it was
Dalaman or Bodrum, but her 11:15am flight from Manchester left on time, so hopefully everyone else got away on schedule.

if you look at the
dalaman airport website yesterday and todays flights are all going out
some are ok and are going and arriving on time
others are suffering delays some of them being quite long
it just depends where your plane is coming from before
