Taking Alcohol into Turkey

Postby patsiej » 02 May 2010 08:03

We usually buy alcohol in the duty free on the way out and then buy some more in the duty free on arrival at Dalaman. Depending on what has been on special offer we have, on occasion, had quite a few bottles!

In the past there have been no restrictions on what was taken in to Turkey. However, with all the changes does anyone know if this has changed and if it has, what restrictions have been imposed?

Have a look at the site http://www.enjoyturkey.com/info/usefull ... ustoms.htm which appears to be official. It gives the customs limits as-

200 cigarettes and 50 cigars. 200 grams of tobacco and 200 cigarette papers, or 50 grams of chewing tobacco or 200 grams of pipe tobacco, or 200 grams of snuff .(In addition to the above allowances, it is possible to purchase 400 cigarettes, 100 cigars, and 500 grams of pipe tobacco from the Turkish Duty Free Shops upon entering the country).

1.5kg. coffee, 1.5kg. instant coffee, 500 grams of tea. 1 kilo chocolate and 1 kilo sweets.5 (100 cc) or 7 (70 cc) bottles of wines and/or spirits. Five bottles of perfume (120 ml max. each).

Thanks Steve and Hector.

We're not going until June so I still have a few weeks to resolve. May find out more as the first holidaymakers return to the UK.

Hi

Just been on the Dalaman Airport site and it says ......

Watch your allowances while shopping inflight. Upon entrance to Turkey, the allowances are restricted to 3 cartons of cigarettes and 4x75 cl. or 2x1 lt. of spirits. Purchases exceeding the limit will lead to seizure and penalty at the customs control.

Guess this answers my question!

Yeah because the duty free shops are near the exits after you have been through so I am guessing you can buy as much as you want from there :D In october i bought 2 bottles of jack daniels in UK airport then 6 bottles of raki export in dalaman airport!

Does anyone have any more recent info on this please? We're flying to Dalaman on Saturday and was hoping to take 3 litres each with us, do you think we'll have any trouble? Also, is there much difference in the price in the UK duty free to the price in Dalaman duty free? Thank you :D
