No smoking is not allowed inside the airport at Dalaman.
Doncaster airport is ok, we usually fly from either there or Humberside. It is nowhere near as big as Newcastle, but there is a large bar / cafe area with big windows overlooking the runway.
We are flying from Donny in May, when do you go?

You can smoke at dalaman outside of the termial building... What we normally do on the return journey is once we've checked in go back outside the main entrance for one or two before going on through to departures.
I know you have to keep going through the scanners going in and out the building, but the staff don't seem to mind, and it's not so bad once you've dumped your case as it's only you and your hand luggage!
Once you go through to departures it's completely no smoking, so just keep your fingers crossed you're not too badly delayed!!

Doncaster airport, flown from there many times, very small but that's a bonus in my opinion!! Very simple; as soon as you walk in there are the check-in desks straight in front of you, there are only about 10 of them! After check-in you go to your right and up the stairs which is where you will find some shops and 2 places to eat  you can either stay in there or go straight through to passport control. On the other side are all the duty free shops and a bar (don't think there's anywhere to eat once you are through) very small, think there are only about 5/6 gates all on one floor so it's virtually impossible to get lost! :D have fun

hi about two years ago ,a delay at the airport, caused a lady and her husband to go to the VIP lounge at dalaman, for a few luxuries, later in departures she told me ,it was ok ,but in theory it cost £17 really just for a tab,[quite an expensive smoke ] BILL

Can't say I particularly like Dalaman airport anyway. But I always check in then nip for a ciggie. Doncaster is great and the bar people are referring to is a Wetherspoons, so it is quite cheap for an airport. Really funny last year though, my sons where with us and the eldest was 19 at the time, I ordered him a pint with his meal and the young lady behind the bar asked if he had any ID. Well I would have loved to see him get on the plane without his passport!!! ha ha!! Judging by the look of her, my son was probably older than her.
