Icmeler holiday season

Postby DavyBee » 21 Apr 2010 08:12

Hello everybody.
I am a big Icmeler fan having been 3 times over the years. Have stayed at the Marbas, The Golmar next door, and possibly The Mersoy (certainly one of those hotels on the stretch of Kayabal Cadassi leading from the beach). However, in the past, I have always been there during the height of the season (July/August). I am considering going this year, but for a number of reasons, I can probably only go for the second half of June. Although I intend staying at The Oylum Garden, I have noticed that a lot of the other hotels seem unavailable at this time. Does this mean that the 'season' doesn't begin until later? I don't want to go then if the place is devoid of other holiday makers, you know? Any advice gratefully received.

PS. Thoughts on The Oylum Garden (not the Oylum Prestige) also welcome.

Tessekur ederim arkadassin. Sonra gorrussuruz! (Which is no doubt spelled completely incorrectly)

The main season in Icmeler runs from the beginning of May until around the very end of October, so it could just be that the particular hotel you've mentioned is fully booked during the second half of June. We've been to Icmeler a couple of times in June and it is quite busy then, so that could be the reason.

Been in June several times and definately busy so wouldn't worry. I prefer June to July/August as I find them just that tiny bit too hot. Temps in June are lovely - still high 30's, low 40's.

The only reason that I can think of that a hotel would be showing as unavailable during June would be, as Blondie says, because they are fully booked!

Go for it, nothing to worry about!

The reason that you cant see much available is because Icmeler is nearly fully booked up

Its a very busy year

We go in June every year and the resort is always busy enough so don't worry. It is (slightly) cooler in June and that, as well as avoiding school holidays (past all that) is why we go then.

Hi
We always go in June time, the weather is fab and there's lots going on.
As for the Oylum Gardens, We stayed there in 2007. We were moved to this hotel from another one in Icmeler after we had been robbed. The hotel was ok, bit dated but the rooms were big and clean, the pool area was nice. However the hotel was full of the owners family and they took over the pool quite a bit.
Some family of ours stayed there in October last year and didn't like it at all, the rooms hadn't really changed in the two years since we'd been, and also the owner's little boy is apparently very naughty, he was only a baby when we were there in 2007 but when my family were there last year he wee'd up my gran's leg, and spat in the breakfast of one of my family. They were there for two weeks but because the family wanted to shut the hotel after the 1st week as it was the end of the season they were moved to another hotel.

Personally, there are nicer places in Icmeler to stay.

As for the weather being slightly cooler, we've always gone in June and the weather is generally in the high 30s-mid 40s. The year we stayed at the Oylum Gardens the thermometer we had got up to 50degrees!
