Mud Baths Smelly???

Postby geordiewoman » 14 Jun 2006 18:21

My mother has got it into her head that the mud baths are smelly, like "rotten eggs" she says. Ive never heard this or read this anywhere else and think that my mother might be having a moment!!!! She is in Turkey same time as us and I think she will be missing out. Can someone set me and her straight please!

Hi geordiewoman, we went to the mud baths at Dalyan last year and the mud itself wasn't smelly, but after you shower the mud off, there is another pool you can go into and it does smell of sulphur or rotten eggs, hubby put one toe in the water and ran, but I did brave it and went in. Not for long as the smell is quite overpowering. Our 14year old son refused to go in the mud, probably wasn't "cool" for a teenager, but he did stand laughing at his dad and me. The trip is a lovely one and everyone needs to go at least once, but you don't have to go in the sulphur pool and it only smells when you are almost in it, so if you want to have a mud bath, I'd still go. My daughter and my future daughter in law are coming back with us this year and I think they want to go, so I might have to go again, just to see their faces when they get in the mud, it doesn't feel how you would think it would! I have photo's of us at the mud baths, but there is no way I'm letting anyone see me in a bikini, but it is a great laugh.

So it is true!!! Well partly!

Sounds fab though and we are definately going. I have a 14 year old too who no doubt will find it immensely funny.

Thanks for the top tips

You will love the mud baths  its so funny watching everyone walking around with the mud caked on them.
Be careful when getting in though as the sides were slippy, myself and my daughter stepped in bit by bit and was fine, but hubby slid in and went under,it was hilarious,he looked like the creature from the deep,he was so embarrased
Took him ages to shower it all off.
