need a BEACON !!!

Hi all,
We are two couples, all in our late sixties (not ready for SAGA just yet)from North Shields coming to Icmeler for the first time in early May and could do with some help & advice from your wonderful forum.
We have already picked up some tips on currency exchange & recommended eating/drinking places.
We will be staying @ MY WORLD apartments for 2 weeks, the address being GOLENYE MAR -- GAZI EKREM KAS CAD !?!? I think thats right but I cant find anything like that on your map.
Our problem is that we tend to wander a lot from bar to bar and invariably end up getting lost and dont know the way home. What we need is a BEACON or something easily recognisable close to our apartments so will know we are close to home.
Secondly, we will be arriving mid to late evening and would like somewhere nice to have a meal & a drink quite close to the apartment.(dont want to get lost on the first night!!!)
Can anyone give any feedback on the GEORDIE-BAR. Will it be open & is it close enough to our apartment to make it our local? (latest feedback on the forum was back in 2007).
I can bring some local newspapers over for any homesick ex-pats who are interested.
Last thing :- Can you get same day English newspapers in Icmeler?
Sorry!! one more thing:-- Is the correct pronunciation ISHMELER or ICKMELER?

Can't help you too much with your queries but you can only get papers a day late and for about 3 quid at that!
As for finding your rooms at night-just draw an arrow on your hand and follow it-works for me.

I'm sure someone responsible who knows a bit more than me will be along soon to help you out.

as bikerjambo says the papers are expensive and you can't get them on the same day.

the geordie bar.....well if you're looking for a home from home type thing I reckon you're out of luck - not very geordie if you ask me. same applies to the so-called Irish Bar

Sorry can't help you with it being your local as I don't know where you are staying but you will be spoiled for choice on places to go in Icmeler

Oh and as for pronunciation I've heard people pronouncing it differently - for me is more like eesh meler

I'm sure once we've established where you are staying the recommendations for places to eat and drink will follow. Maybe you apartments have beenr renamed for the season or something? I'm sure someone will be along soon who'll know

Can't find the apartments by name but a zoom in on Google Earth shows Gazi Ekrem Kaz CD at the southern end of Icmeler quite near to the old village. It's off the road that follows the dry canal from the South End of Icmeler beach by a "large" road junction. There's your beacon but don't fall in the canal!

Actually many places do papers the same day, we always get on on the beach, the guy goes from one end to the other and gets to the Yakamoz area around 2pm, there are 6 lira though - over £2, thats for the Essex Times - or the Sun as you may know it!

Is it Greenworld apartments where you are staying as I havent heard of any called My World?
The Geordie bar was closed last year and being from the North East myself I wouldnt spend my time in any Geordie bar as I have always found them a bit dowdy in other places.There are much much nicer bars in Icmeler.
When you get to Icmeler and you have a look around you will be spoilt for choice.

Been going to icemeler for about 10 years, but dont know where my world apartments are. I would suggest that you jump onto a dolumus and get off at the big crossroads where the main bank is. You will see a restaurant on the junction called Set and they do the best steaks at a good price.Dolumus run quite late and most of the bars will get you a free liftback anyway
