FLAG ON THE HILL

Postby CHUCHTER » 31 Mar 2010 20:02

Can someone confirm that you are able to actually go up to the flag on the hill. When we were in Icmeler last year we asked our travel rep about how to get there and were told that it was military ground and used for training therefore not accessible! Can anyone clarify this please? :?

Never heard about it being military ground but maybe it was.Savas the barman at the Moonlight Apartments organised it as a few people had been asking about going up,mainly for the view you would get. You do need proper shoes/trainers and probably socks as some bits are a bit rough. The views though are quite spectacular.

Flag was originally stuck up there by a friend of mine abt ten years ago. A word of warning though!!! another friend of mine tried the walk and fell dislocating her knee and had to be carried down by Ahu hetman hospital paramedics so BE CAREFUL!

There are 2 ways to get to that flag, the easy way up the path and back down there or the daft way that Rami, his wife and my wife went in the photo's.

The second way is the daft one as the hills are full of thorns

I did the flag climb a couple of years ago, and I took the easy way up but the hard way down. Sturdy shoes and jeans are definitely needed, as it's rough going and the undergrowth is very prickly on the hillside. It was a cooler, overcast day, and the wind up there was gale force! I wouldn't say I'm all that fit, but it wasn't too hard going, and well worth it for the spectacular views. I took my video and could almost zoom in our balcony in the middle of town.
