Dare I suggest that if the mayor/council wants to improve the situation of the bars and restaurants, in that there might be too many chasing too few customers.............that instead of just demolishing bars, they try to reduce hotels offering "all inclusive"

Council is not happy with AI Hotels either however, there is freedom to trade:) they cant tell tell business owners how to run their business...afterall, its the major TOs who want the AI board offered by hotels so they can sell mass holidays at a lower price...good thing is Icmeler only has few hotels that offer AI... and with the change in number of restaurants now, hotels may go back to offering BB only since there will be good money to be made from restaurants.

As a result of this development. There will be less restaurants in Icmeler. Prices will be higher as there will be no need to compete so much with prices. With prices being higher, profits may become substential. Hotels who offer AI may then decide to open their restaurants to their guests as A la Carte and try to tap into these profits...so your wish may come true;)

Prices will be higher

This then may become Icmeler's downfall and demise :(

IMO there will still be a lot of restaurants to choose from, anyone who goes regularly to Icmeler and is 'price aware' isnt suddenly going to start paying through the nose for a meal just because a few illegally built dives have been closed, I wont for sure.

I will pay a decent price for a decent meal, if every tom dick and harrys steakhouse pokes their prices up i will just go elsewhere.

Absolutely agree.

I just hope they dont put the prices of vodka and mixers up as I already feel this is expensive for local vodka/gin/ etc, and not always a great measure either.

Personally,I am not too bothered by all this, there are lots of great restaurants in Icmeler, and this will just encourage a lot of us to try more restaurants than just our old favourites! :D

I am also for improvements but not take away the character of Icmeler, but if all the cafe's and restaraunts have gone from the beach what about toilet facilites hope they are not going to build those toilet huts to be charged everytime you go.We went into Marmaris August because my grandson did not have the change they would not let him use it.

Colette wrote:Thanks for the explanation Rami, one thing I don't understand, so the roof is pulled back 2 metres from the sidewalk, your sitting in there eating you dinner etc the place is full of people and it starts to have an Icmeler rainstorm ? What happens ? Apart from the fact you and your dinner get soaked ?

Also, what difference to Icmeler does it make if the roof is 2 metres from the sidewalk ? It's not like you are likely to trip over it like you would do them massive big pineapple tree things that sprout out of the pavement and cut your arms on the way past ?

Confused.com

On a plus side, a huge thanks to Cath for the piccies :D

It was only 3 or 4 years ago that Harrys and the hotel next door was knocked down and before the next season had started we had a new Harrys and apartment block as well as a jewellers and supermarket.
A couple of years ago the Golden Moon was knocked down and was re-built along with apartments and supermarket.
The lighhouse restaurent was demolished and Cupids was built in its place.
Kitchen areas improved extra toilet facilities in some bars, all this has got to be better for us visitors to Icmeler.
A new promenade was built, a few didnt like it, but the majority accepted the new change.
We have a new harbour area that at the moment hasnt fullfilled its full potential but is an improvement on what was there before.
All the roads are now surfaced,no more dirt tracks

Change has always been happening in Icmeler and I am sure the new improvements will be to our benefit in the end.
