Please can you try to be at Vince's for the meet-ups if you have said you are going to be there, me and my OH were there on the 4th September and sat there all night, we met John Lane and his lovely family, and also met up again with John Sheppard who we had climbed to the flag with, but Vince said that no-one else had turned up, and I did go round the tables asking!
On 11th September we braved the torrential rain and made our way from the old village, bringing a present and card for someone's birthday. My OH said that it would be a waste of time and it was. Viking Pete had been there and we had just missed him, but he was the only member who turned up. We stayed at Vinces until late, just in case anyone came. We won't be doing it next year! It is a shame as all the staff made an effort and had their ICR shirts on ready to welcome everyone.

That is such a pity Julie when the lads go to so much trouble and when people like you actually do turn up.

Yes I was really disappointed as I had been looking forward to meeting everyone, OH was not happy that we had wasted two nights of the holiday. Never mind. :?

I would go along in October, but I'd probably be on my own as daughter will no doubt be off to more exciting pastrues (ie Eastenders or Pleasure!) with her Turkish friends, and I'm worried about feeling a bit out of things...

Julie, we have been fortunate enough to be at Vinces when there was a good turnout (June 2008, brilliant) and not so good a turnout, but even on the not so good turnouts, like in June this year, there was myself and my OH, Dotty and her OH and Lynnjenny and her OH, plus a couple of apologies.

We made our own fun and it was just good to meet people. But some people had been in earlier in the week and had passed their apologies on to everyone who turned up, because some things do happen, holiday or not.

I had already met Dotty the year before so it was good to have a familar face and of course I had my tablet personally delivered lol, but I think when on holiday, we all make plans, but sometimes plans so easily change too. It was good to meet Lynnjenny and Carl that night too though, because I had a lynnjenny special pink cocktail (memory failing me again, whats it called lynn?) and I haggled with Vince and got it cheaper

Personally I will come (even if only for 5 minutes) to explain to people why I cant stay, but you know what its like on holidays, you might just get involved in something that you cant avert your attentions from and hence disappointing people.

Dont let it put you off future Vinces meets, it just depends on who is there at the same time as you.

Hopefully you had a great holiday, despite the disappointment on the night, I too would have been disappointed to take a present for someone, who didnt turn up or pass on a message that they wouldnt be there.

Hi travelingscot52, shame about the weather, I felt so sorry for the first timers arriving in Icmeler that Friday, they probably wondered what was going on with all that torrential rain, I have never seen rain in Icmeler before but at least it brightened up for the Sunday. Maybe see you next year! :D
