To Buy Or Not To Buy.
That Is The Question
(Thank You William for the phrase)
With the rate today on Eriks list at 2.42 TL to the £ who is brave enough to buy now or risk it going higher still to Davids rate of 2.8888.

A lot of you were predicting a lower rate so surely todays rate must be a tempter.

Anybody tempted to change :?
If so ICR is the best deal at 2.544 according to their home page, better even than the bank rate at 2.524.
Its tempting :P

I think the rate shown on the ICR home page is the interbank rate and not the tourist rate.

I think the article MUSTAPHABUN was referring to in the FT earlier in this thread is at the following link.

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/dd6928ce-041f ... 07658.html

Will be interesting to see what happens.

Interesting article in the Daily Turkish News

Suggests that the Lira may fall quite soon to $1=2 Lira this would equate to £1=2.82 Lira depending on a deal with the IMF

Article can be found at

Dave

I should have put a higher value for this competition :(

Is it always better to exchange money in resort (i.e do you always get a better rate in resort) or to change it here and take it with you.

Hi andyr,

Its horses for courses but generally you get a better rate in the resort. We usually take a couple of hundred and then change the rest out there, there are many shops that will change it for you and give you a good rate. saying that, it looks like you may get a really good rate here soon and its best to buy while the goings good rather then risk the rate dropping by the time you go on holiday.

Im sure others will give different advice but like i say, horses for courses!

It's dropped again. I expect it to start picking up April but we'll have to wait and see.

Unfortunatley we dropped against the $ and therefore the Lira, Turkey are going to start selling foreign currency tomorrow so the Lira may get stronger this week.
