We are still waiting for the claim to go through with the CAA or ATTand we filled it in & sent it before Christmas, although it was sent back to us because had we had not signed part of it.

the frequency with which hol companies are going bust is CRIMINAL imho - sincere good wishes to all those affected by this recent collapse and crossing everything that you all manage to salvage something from the nightmare inflicted on you, and I extend that to the poor hoteliers too :roll:

A quick question :?: , when you claim a refund through CAA does this also include the fuel tax and airline passanger duty or just the actual flight price? :? :? :?

I just wanted to offer my sincere sadness to all those affected by Goldtrail or any other holiday company who can't fulfill their holidays. I know how much hard work goes into earning the money to be able to afford the holiday in the first place, all the organising around the home/pets/work etc that has to be done sometimes months before you leave and it must be soul destroying for those who don't have the funds available to rebook an alternative whilst waiting for the refund.

I hope you all get your refunds sorted swiftly and those who manage to get away enjoy themselves.

To make sure that everyone gets the CORRECT advise and answers I suggest that people in the need to know contact the CAA on the details listed here.

Thanks for that info Chasmarie I know it may take a while but at least all is not lost. Beth I had a problem too on the link from Atol but have managed now,. try this.
In your search engine just type Atol Claim Form when the page comes up click on the "quick view" it brings the form straight up, all 7,yes 7 pages of it. Hope this works for you.

I had to go through the process of claiming a refund from CAA last year when customflights went bust,travel republic transfered my flight with another provider and the claim was refunded within 3 months.Now I have got to do the same again !!,I booked flights for some of my family only 10 days ago with goldtrail,credit card company dont want to know,so it will have to be ATOL,luckily weve managed to rebook surprisingly with Thomsons for only £178 only £10 each more.

I went onto the CAA Websidte and put 'Claim form' in the searchbox. Printed off the claim form and posted yesterday, so fingers crossed. We went online and re-booked to fly with T C from Manchester (instead of Teeside which is just up the road from us!!) but managed to get flights for around £50 more, so not bad for 5 of us. Hopefully we will be tasting that cold Efes next Thursday?? Hope everybody manages to get reasonable flights with not too much of a price hike :D

john G wrote:Just read another story like yours, Jozzyd, on a different forum and that was the same - apparently some travel agents are honouring the payments made and claiming back the money themselves. Thats really good to hear, it should be a legal requirement though - customers who have paid good money in faith shouldn't have to deal with all this crap about claiming refunds from credit cards, ACC, etc.

John

All travel agents should honour payments made.

I have the greatest sympathy with all caught up in this mess. Something similar happened to us last year. And we lost our holiday to Turkey. Was slightly different though;

it was our holiday company whent t*ts up. The company hadn'd, 'Bonded as a package', our holiday, so we had no protection ATOL ABTA CAA all said no. That was the last time I will ever pay cash for a holiday. I now pay for everything by credit card.

With every pakage holiday there are three parts, flights, transfers, and accomadation. I contacted all the providers directly, they were all happy to honour the booking, but I would have to pay again, as they had not recieved the money from the travel company. I had paid three grand for our holiday and they had not passed a peny on, I was bloody ******* off. I soon found though that this is standard industry practice, and it sort of makes sense. If I were to book a hotel in this country I would not pay for It until I left. The same applies with travel agents. They don't give your money to the providers until your holiday begins, in the case of the large opperators, they can keep small hotels waiting for your money until months after you return home!!!! So if you booked with an agent, they should provide you with an alternative, or refund, as they have still got your money.

Good luck to anyone in this mess. I ended up loosing my rag with m*****h (who were totaly blameless) when they told me I could still have the seats, but would have to pay another £1500, and told the very nice lady where she could stick her aeroplane! Went to Lazarote in the end.

I am so sorry for all those whose holidays have been taken from them by this.The guy who owns the firm is Turkish according to todays papers.Kadir Aydan.This is the first time I did not book with Goldtrail.They were not including transfers when I looked to book and I couldnt be bothered to sort it and phone them on an 0871 number so I did the flights with Aegean and the transfer and accomodation with ICR....Dilhan which I did last year thru Goldtrail.I cant believe my luck.I think I might get a lottery ticket tomorrow....never do as a rule.Hope you all are ok and get your holidays.I know how lucky we are and we fly thursday.
