hope he was only joking, but jimmy says he was thinking of moving on.I agree a rearly nice place to eat and watch the football.

Okimo's is a great place, have known him and Ozlen for years. When we there in 2006 I know that Ozlen was all for retiring, but not Jimmy, Icmeler without Okimo's would not seem right, it is the only place that would entice us back to Icmeler now I am afraid.

Great little bar with good food and a very friendly atmosphere hope Jimmy will still be there this summer

08 Jan 2008 22:51

Okiom's sounds a great place call me stupid but don't know were it is, can you please enlighten me as this sounds like a place to try this year,if it is still open thanks

If you look at the map on this site, go to area 4 and find the Joy Munamar Hotel.

There is a path north of here, follow this west, across the road and carry on west. You will see Jimmys, on your right.

Hope that is clear enough.

You must also try new bar Noel which is run by Leon who used to work at Alvaro and all the lads, Nico, Romeo, Ircan, Naci etc all work there. Food is absolutely fab - you must try the spicy chicken bang bang. You can find this next to the 3 bells.

We also found the Red Lion served delicious food too.

We found Dream Boys a bit disappointing this year so only went once but we did visit Venice a few times as that was very good too

Hi you!

I loved Noels Bang Bang too!!, Didn't bother with Dreamboys this year, but did do Majestic again and was not disappointed. Get in there early, get a good spot, order a sizzler and enjoy the entertainment. Great night out! Waterfall, brilliant too. Chef and Love Boat - food to die for and great service - although some may disagree about the service (Aug very very busy), So many fine restaurants, so few days to try them all!!!

have to say i wasnt that impressed with the waterfall location and surroundings lovely but found the food a bit ordinary perhaps it was me or maybe an off night, have to say that Venice my fav restaurant never had a bad meal in there and waiters great fun

Chef was terrible last year in my opinion. the restaurant that stands out for us is the titanic, best food in icmeler

I have to slightly agree with you about the Chef Eric, it's normally very good but I found in August that we seemed to be waiting for food to come - very unusual as Elvis and his team are normally spot on.... maybe they were having problems, fingers crossed it's better this year.

I had some fabulous meals at the Olive Tree (under the Bonjour Hotel) - apparently they're installing a stone oven ready for the start of this season so they'll be able to serve up freshly baked pitta bread.... yummmmy with mezzes!

Rosa's cafe is also woth a visit, especially for her turkish cuisine night - usually on a Wednesday and Friday (but you need to book) she cooks all the food herself and the mezzes are out of this world! And so cheap! Only went once last summer but will certainly be spending more time eating up there this summer!
It's even lovely there if you just fancy a stroll and a cold Efes in the shade of an afternoon - her garden is lovely, so quiet and so shady.... her Tuna salads are pretty lovely too!

Aaaaahhh wonderful memories of an afternoon relaxing in Rosa's peaceful garden with an ice cold beer, a dappling of sunshine coming through the shady leaves of the trees and the mosque calling all to prayer. You really feel like you're in Turkey at times like that. Heaven!

fantastic for the kids

owner does magic

food amazing and cheap

Mezz
Have read lots about Rosa's and would love to try it this year
Where about is it - have had probs finding it

24 Jan 2008 19:41

Get yourself to Cafe Anne which is on the main road (dry part of canal here). Follow the road upinto the old village and where the road meets another road you need to branch off to the left. Keep going until you see the sign for Cafe Rosa. It's actually right before you get to Baba Sahin apartments.

It's hard to remember exactly how to get there unless you're actually walking it if you see what I mean... but if you're not sure and you see someone just ask and they'll probably take you there personally (knowing the Turks!).

Rosa will always get her husband to drive you back if you're worried about getting lost in the dark!!

I've seen the sign on one of Gene's photos and thought it was around that area, hopefully I'll make it this year
we like sauntering along that area so will have to cast the net a bit wider and am sure we'll come across it

There are quite a few hand written signs up the Old Village directing you to Roses Cafe. There is one by the side of the Miami Bar that takes you down the road going back to town take the first right then keeping the Baba Sahin Apartments on your left the next place you come to is Rose's Cafe.

We stayed at the Baba Sahin Apartments last year, which are absolutely fabulous, and did good home cooked, reasonably priced food themselves as there are a new Welsh family that have taken over the running of it. But we did pop next door to Roses a few times and enjoyed her home made Turkish Cuisine which is the best that I have tasted. I would recommend a visit to Rose's as it is a real taste of Turkey. And she makes you feel so welcome.

Thanks for that Kayla
we managed to at least find rose's place last year thanks to Helen (not Mary as I'd originally posted   , apol Helen), but there weren't enough nights in the holiday - lots of us went, so lots of nights that were organised for us!! It's definately on our to do list this year - even if I have to go on my own ha ha

The Nefis restaurant is on the main road to the old village by the Robin Hood pub. Go from the ICR offices thro the main square, passed the Mercedes car parked out side the Jewellers and you will find about 500 yds or so on your left. The best pides in the whole of Icmeler. The koftas are not bad either.

I dont recall having a bad meal in Icmeler but my favourite has got to be the Travellers Rest - very plain food such as Haddock and chips with mushy peas but the quantity - quality were second to none.Three bells also highly reccomended.
