Well, all I can say is that we've been here since Tuesday and loving it...the changes haven't spoiled anything for us
31 May 2014 09:08
The thing is we like our memories and don't like change but can't stop it.sure it will not stop us enjoying our goal and I too will give an honest review when I return.arrive tonight and can't wait to go to all my favourite haunts tintins, lighthouse, fryer tucks and Venice.bring it on.+really need my boat trips to chill away the days.

Well i.ve been here since Thursday and never been so bored...i can only assume the people that love the changes are lets say...being kind to them..in there winter years of life ! And anything above 10 decibels will be a pest to them ! Was at the Stella show on Thursday nite and it was maybe at best 75% full. Was at the majestic Friday nite...27 tables out of 75 were full and the Venice across the canal was even worse. The resort as a whole is well down on tourists.the only people i can see that benefit from these changes seem to be the shop owners and the larger hotels that are all inclusive and have there own entertainment. Keep this in mind.nobody is going to keep returning to walk round shops at 10pm because that's all there is to do.having spoken to a few owners there's NOBODY so far said the changes are good for icmeler.we all had choices when we were here.if you didn't want a meal with entertainment then there were plenty of quiet places.the " i love the changes brigade " will see what they want to see.you can make up your own mind when you visit. I am 52 myself but clever enough to know that
icmeler needs the families year after year...that's what makes it a special place..no one wants icmeler to be a mini version of
marmaris nor do we want it over run by golden oldies on there electric scooters .icmeler is in a strangle hold at the moment...slowly being choked to death.i fear for it in the not to distant future.lets hope it survives. I look forward to reading other reviews.

Sorry Ian, but I can assure you that we are far from being in our winter years, in fact, I'm younger than you - and we've spoken to quite a few business owners who are quite happy with the changes. Just shows how different people look at things in a different light, I guess...
I would just urge everyone not to panic and to judge things for themselves when they get here. Then, if like Ian, you don't like the changes, obviously you can vote with your feet.

I take it the bars can still play music even if there are no "dancing waiters, belly dancers etc " ??
02 Jun 2014 16:44
Well thats just it...there is no entertainment.....all the shops are busy because the people who can't find any entertainment are now walking about the shops...the fact is the place is very quiet...prob for a few reasons....and anybody who can find a happy business owner please tell us !

Not all people on electric wheelchairs or scooters are 'golden oldies.' I was 36 and my daughter was thirteen. Just think 'there but for the grace of God go I,' disability can hit anyone at any age. As for 'golden oldies' we've spent many a great night in their company in Icmeler. Roll on 30th June changes or not, your holiday is what you make it
02 Jun 2014 17:54
I think we could debate this forever.let everyone.make there own mind up.its pretty clear what my opinion is...if the changes are good for
icmeler then by nxt year everyone will bw happy and busy.I'll be back at the end of June but won't be writing any more reviews.hope everybody has a fantastic time.

I must admit ian that I am a bit worried about the lack of entertainment etc. The last thing I want is to be bored on holiday. Holidays are meant to be fun, not rowdy at all but certainly fun. We are a family of 5 so with 3 children to entertain, having no shows etc could turn into a bit of a nightmare. I also agree that icmeler, and every resort really, needs families to enjoy their holiday to keep them coming back
02 Jun 2014 20:55
I think we'll all have to relax and wait until we're there, which has already been mentioned .........
Then panic and dive onto a Dolmus/Taxi Boat to .... Dare I say it?? .... Marmaris! .. if it's dead and you're bored to Tears!! Lol
Seriously though, I honestly believe that it will be the same as normal, as
JT said it's just
Icmeler becoming legal with entertainment! Lol
02 Jun 2014 21:24
The funny thing geordie is that nothing is legal in Turkey.
Every thing you buy is fake, you will not get a receipt hardly anywhere, motor bike/scooter riders never wear helmets, hardly any one has proper insurance, the workers are pretty much all cash in hand, i could go on.
Now all of a sudden you need a license for a waiter to dance !
Dont you just love the place
02 Jun 2014 22:13
Geordie1970, I'd rather sit in silence in a bar in
icmeler than go anywhere near "that awful place"
& if we did go we could dispense with the dolmus, we old people can always go along the beach path on our electric scooters !!
Seriously though, like you say we will all have to just wait & see when we get there.
Which for me is Wednesday.
02 Jun 2014 22:48
Ha ha ... Very true m8! .. How silly of me! Lol
.... And yep Mansy I agree, Scooter it is for you and Mr Mansy in a couple of days then??

... But hopefully not, we all look forward to the reviews on your return from the 'Queen Mother' of the forum! Lol

Our neighbours who have been going to
icmeler twice a year for the last 18 years returned yesterday from a fortnights holiday. They have said the changes are so noticeable, and most nights they were all so bored and headed back to their
hotel after their meal. We have been going to icmeler now for 5 years, and was gutted we couldn't go this year for various reasons but have booked for August 2015. Now we are not party animals, but having said that we do like the choice and having 3 kids (11, 13 & 15) who enjoyed the way things were I feel the holiday could be difficult. In our opinion Icmeler was perfect never been anywhere before that had got the balance as spot on as this place. Our favourite place to go is the Florida bar, which every night is packed out, but apparently now they have extra tables across the 'dance floor' and at best the t.v. switched on. I am not being negative about icmeler, we just feel really sad that the place we considered perfect for us seems to have gone. Our neighbours who took with them an 82 year old said even she was bored and feel after all these years they will not return. The resort was very quiet with little atmosphere, was their opinion!
03 Jun 2014 07:03
But there IS entertainment on in some places! It's just not true to say there is NO entertainment...various places have karaoke on, Irish bar was packed last night with entertainment, and I've just read a FB post from someone who was dancing in Wonderbar until 3am this morning. Those are just a few examples...
03 Jun 2014 08:47
Jees - who gives a damn about entertainment????? For goodness sake you manage to entertain yourselves during the day don't you? If you don't like the changes - don't go - simples!!
Icmeler will I'm sure still have the great atmosphere it always has had - only a little bit quieter of an evening!
Marmaris is near enough for all that crap anyway. As has already been said, there will still be entertainment in bars that are licensed to have entertainment for those who want it.

Also, I think the reason why it appears to be quiet in resort at the mo is that the season hasn't quite kicked in yet - wait til July and August when holidaymakers will be out in their thousands!!!!
